Some advice, try to disengage from her. Social media, updates from friends anything but the divorce (and kids if you have them). Long term it will help the healing process.

No worries man. I took my son to mine and my ex-wives favorite pool hall. Literally every song I’ve heard tonight are songs that she would clog the damn cue with. All good songs too! So disassociating is hard when their songs you don’t want to disassociate with because you’ve enjoyed them before the relationship. Lol.

Disengaging From someone you Loved is like coming off a drug … the only way is 100% stopping it or you are just feeding the addiction small amounts of drugs and it will take longer to get over it .. that’s my take on my breakup. It’s fucking hard and hurts but rip that bandaid off fast and never look back.

This makes me hate myself even more. I wish I could suppress my emotions more and not give a shit.

Because now every time I play a song that is more soft, mellow, sad sounding.. I think of my impending divorce and the loss of my kids and committing suicide.

And there's a lot of really good songs I never used to attach those kind of emotions to.

Now I find I have to force myself to listen to all the heavy stuff where my emotions are either numb or I'm fantasizing like taking a sledgehammer and smashing my enemies over the head. (Example Fear Factory - Bodyhammer).

I went through this exact thing. While she had blocked me and my family from every single form of social media, she stayed on spotify (quite possibly due to the fact that I was paying for it).

I used Spotify as my f*ck you for the one day she contacted me and made me feel like shit so I deleted her from my family account. Boy oh boy, did I poke the sleeping bear quickly hear from her regarding that one. While I disrupted her life through losing Spotify, I reminded myself that she disrupted mine by leaving me and my two kids after 7 years together (2 years of which we were engaged).

Long story short, she has her own account now and she and I periodically send each other links to songs that we want the other to hear. The breakup happened 9 months ago so I would not say there is absolutely no chance of reconciliation due to our past history and length of relationship, but otherwise, I wouldn't follow her right now if I were you as she knows that you're watching and will due everything to hurt you right now.

Without knowing your situation, I at least want to suggest a way of thinking about it that won't gnaw at you. Maybe she really is heartbroken because she thinks she couldn't be your happy wife any longer, but she's also grieving the life you had together and what she's losing by leaving. It's normal to indulge in sad things when we're sad and, specifically, to revisit our trauma, especially through art (like a breakup song when we are going through a breakup).

So she isn't necessarily romanticizing this and pumping herself up like a hero, but just having some very normal reactions to a very real and common life situation.

Either way, I hope she understands her part in how the marriage turned out so she doesn't end up in the same situation years later and can change things before they get to the point where she can't love her husband anymore.
