There are no cons to having it. FROR gives you the right to exercise it or not. Better to have that choice than not. I had it and would always exercise it. Time with kids is important and irreplaceable once they are grown. Put it in there.

The one thing I'll remind everyone promoting this clause is this: anything you ask her to agree to, you'll have to agree to as well.

One the surface, a strict ROFR for child care makes sense. You want to spend maximum time with your kids, and you want to have some level of say as to who's caring for them. Then, you apply it to yourself, and remember that this clause will survive until they're adults.

What if your parents are in town, and you want to run to the store without a kid in tow? Well, you'll have to check with the ex.
What if you get remarried, and it would be easier for the kids to spend a few hours with your new wife before you get home in the afternoon? You'll have to ask the ex.
What if you want to utilize after-school child care? You'll have to ask the ex.
What if the kid wants to go to a friends house for a few hours? Again.....you'll have to ask the ex.

Getting the point yet? If you're going to utilize one, best limit it to overnight child care. Anything more than that, and you're opening the door for that lovely ex of yours to basically dictate many parenting decisions during your time.

I'd put in there that say if your ex offers you FROR ( any over night) , she has to drop/pick up kids from you.

Actually have a call this afternoon with a mediator to add FROR to my parenting plan. My ask is to get 24-48 hour notice to watch my kids if other parent will be gone for more than 2 hours. We live close to each other and my youngest keeps complaining about other parent’s babysitters. If I am available, I’d prefer child be dropped off at my place and picked up afterwards.

If you live close, then it should be an option to exercise. It helps both parents out and fosters good coparenting.

A child being watch by a babysitter when other parent is 15 min away, available and willing, doesn’t make sense at all!

I would rather spend the money on more parenting time.
