In some ways, we live under a form of matriarchy, especially when it comes to marriage and divorce — but most western men don’t even notice it, like fish in water, that the Whole World dont live that way. You only start to realize it when you travel or if you're an immigrant and know how differently men are treated elsewhere. For example, in most Muslim countries — and I get it, if you're from U.S. you've probably been brainwashed to see them as just "terrorist 24/7 (to justify to the wars there to the public ) but let’s put that aside — these societies don’t allow matriarchy to dominate the divorce/custody part.

Striking examples:

1- after a divorce, the father typically remains the legal guardian of the children, while the mother may receive physical custody — especially for young one. However, legal guardianship includes decisions about the child's education, travel, finances, and marriage, and usually remains with the father
-->while mothers care for the children day-to-day, they aren't legally or financially responsible to the same extent as the father — who remains the official guardian and provider.

2-Alimony does not exist: After a divorce, the woman is entitled to a limited 3months of basic living expenses during the waiting period After that, he has no further financial obligation unless she is pregnant or breastfeeding.

3-, the default marriage contract is one of financial separation, not community of property like in most Western countries.

Or maybe over the past few decades men have subtly and subliminally been shit all over from every aspect of our culture, while women have simultaneously been uplifted, subsidized, and flattered.

It's easy to ask why are men doing so poorly, but no one ever stops to ask how the fat, ugly middle aged woman with multiple kids managed to have such a high self esteem. That is the bigger question. I mean where do all these subpar women get their self esteem from because I want whatever they're having. I'm 6' 1", childless, make 6 figures a year and am athletic and I struggle with poor self esteem every day. I'm at the top of the pyramid mathematically and I see the most overrated and underwhelming women acting as if they have a right to the best man in the world.

I actually had the same experience with the women I was finding on the app I was using.

They felt OLD. They acted OLD.

I was about to chuck it in the fuck it bucket but last last match is working out, 2+ months in. We will see how it pans out.......

Funny enough that one popped up on my feed. She targets 30 year olds and refers to her home as a cougar den. Avoid like the plague, especially if you are 30.

The apps are loaded with men shaving up to 20-30 years off their ages in order to get past young women’s filters. So then some women may lie as well, in order to be seen by men their age range. Like the Joan and Carol comment here recently. Lying like that is incredibly lame, regardless. But that may explain the “lack of youthfulness” observation. Dude put his walker out of the photo frame.

The very gorgeous and fit people are catfish scams, for men and women. The hottest men are gay men —models, trainers, influencers—whose photos have been stolen. The hottest women are the same, plus only fans thirst traps, scammers, and hookers.

Bottom line—the apps exist to make money, not result in successful matches. And there is an entire industry beyond that using call centers where people are pretending to be Johan the oil worker who needs money for his venture or Raquel the struggling but oh so in love with you big guy model.

Many women divorce their husbands in their 40s and 50s because their friends, family and TikTok convince them that there is this bounty of healthy, fit, attractive, well adjusted, "kitten at home, shark in the boardroom" men just waiting for them. They've already blamed all of their problems on their husbands, and they assume they come into their next relationships with no baggage and no issues.

When they get their profile out on Tinder and Hinge, reality starts to hit. The younger men aren't interested (except late at night for a quick hookup), and the successful, attractive men can do better than them. What they see are people like them: men with some level of baggage. Not that these are bad men, but they're dealing with stuff, they've got kids, they're still battling a bitter ex wife. So, it's much easier to blame the men they're meeting than to look in the mirror and see what they're really worthy of.

I've gotten somewhat agnostic about women like this over the years. They're delusional, but arguing that with them is fruitless. Most of them will end up single for the rest of their lives, all the while telling everyone that will listen how intentional that decision was......
