For me it was the monthly CS. Come to find out she had to buy a new car and the CS she insisted on was enough to cover her new car payment.

The two things that helped me:

1) Asking for a trial. You don't have to actually go to trial, but having a "deadline" forces everyone to get things done. And if it does end in a trial, odds are you were never going to settle anyway. Asking for one ASAP also gets you into the queue. Otherwise, when mediation fails, you're stuck waiting another year for a trial date. (Note: the courts may order their own medation before allowing you to go to trial. Having a judge mediate our case helped move things along.)

2) If you have more money than she does, wait until she's broke. That's what got me out of paying alimony and got my stubborn ex to settle. Her lawyer was demanding payment, her rent was late, and she was desperate for cash.

Probably need more information, if you're renting I'm gonna say the only thing of importance involved in this divorce is your children, I'd fight until the very end, you got nothing to lose at this point, if she's getting 20% and still wants more, makes no sense to settle on your end, id take her to a trial.

A pushy attorney. Not necessary aggressive in an unfair way, but one that takes no bs.

I’ve had 3 trial dates . 4th at the end of the month . The cost is unreal . But I’m left with no option. Same thing like 18% of the time .

You can't force someone to settle. Sorry.

Luckily, divorces in AZ go fast. Mediation went nowhere unless I was going to sign away everything.

We went straight to trial.
