What was your reason for divorce?

She said I was cranky and she didn’t think I liked her. I tried to make some changes and acknowledged that. A therapist told her it was emotional abuse. We were on a date and afterward she told me it was over.

She lost the admiration she at for me, I tried to find out why and fix, which made look even more boring making her lose more admiration, she was already monkey branching. She transformed me in her, the more I became her the less she liked me.

Honestly, once admiration is gone it's over, you may may stretch a few more years or the rest of your life, but it's probably a miserable situation, even if the person has the ability to paint it otherwise to the outside, the real life/situation is when the home door closes with you both inside.

I spent 15 years trying to figure out how to get her to love me again. She hated talking about the relationship so I had to just guess at what was going on.

I didn't want to grow old with someone who blatantly disrespected and harbored resentment towards me. Also we weren't setting a good example for our kids of what marriage is supposed to look like.

There's been sad and lonely days post separation, but not a single day of regret. The peace was almost instantaneous.

I'm very much my own person. My ex-wife told me that that was one of the main reasons that she fell for me. I didn't tow the line. Im independent as fuck.

15 years later she starts to turn into her mother and she wants the type of man that every other man in her life is......... the type of guy that spends his life appeasing his wife.

The criticisms would be coming day and night.

We grew apart. I started not caring as I doubled down on me being me and that wasn't enough for her.

She done the same.

She took a huge decision to take a gigantic paycut and didn't tell me that. Her family knew that she was interviewing for new jobs but I wasn't told. That was when I knew she had chequed out and it was only a matter of time before we divorced.

About a year later it happened.

I've been very happy since. Not sure exactly how she is. She isn't the type of person to speak about it. . To be clear, I wasn't easy to live with so she isn't to blame fully for the breakup. If I wanted to stay with her I would have went down the Neville Chamberlain route of appeasement but I was either too stubborn or my ego was to big. Or maybe I'm just myself and I always will be.

The disrespect. Being under valued and under appreciated. Yet she says I'm at fult for how she behaved. I work my ass off and she doesn't see how her being able to stay home with our son was a Godsend... Then once she said, "you don't provide anymore, you lost your job and now it's your dad's money supporting us."

Divorce papers the next month, tomorrow, she moves out.

Frankly.. I always thought that the only way i’d divorce was if there was some kind of affair against me, didnt think about feelings. I was young immature i think i didnt value myself enough to admit that i also needed to be happy.

Now i’m married and realize that i also deserve to be happy, i provide for my family beyond what most men should and feel so empty now. The nagging the disrespect, and the loneliness have made me re-evaluate so much and wish that i before i could have loved someone for real, i would have loved myself as well

Found out she was cheating. Then found out she’d been the the entire time (20 years together).

I’ll never eco er. Divorce is a death sentence.

Cheating, she cheated. She was angry, not apologetic so I kicked her out and filed that week.

She has contacted me a couple times over the years, but I never responded.

I mean like, honestly nobody can tell you if you did in fact “exaggerate” Everyone is different. You can divorce for reasons as diverse as attempted murder to as mundane as you two just can’t seem to get along
