Hi all,

I'm currently going through an ugly divorce that involves a child, my son who is 4. In short, I had a kid really young (when I was 22) with someone who's been my best friend since we were 14. I knew she had some mental health issues but never thought they'd get this bad, I suspect she has BPD. After a week of rough arguments she left with our child and has thrown nasty accusations of domestic abuse, sought restraining orders, you name it really. Things are starting to look better for me in terms of custody and fighting the accusations but I feel concern for the future. I just hope my son isn't too affected by this in the long-term. My family keeps telling me I'm better off and that it is better it happen now that I'm young and my son is young than down the road.

I want to ask: Do things get better? Will my son be ok if I'm a present and positive dad? Will I learn to eventually let things go and live a better life?

Thanks for listening.
