Hello,

I have been letting thoughts about my height dominate my everyday life. It's gotten real bad-to the point that I actively compare my height with people around me ALL the time. I want to stop being jaded at the world and stop having these toxic thoughts but I can't.

The reasons for my thoughts: I was always a small kid while growing up. I lived a pretty normal life except for the fact that my parents were immigrants and I felt like I didn't fit in at times. At school, I excelled when it came to grades but I always was picked on for being kinda of a dork and being physically small. This continues until about highschool when all of a sudden everyone around me has growth spurts. I get a small one too, but only enough to make me slightly taller than my 5'5" dad (I'm 5'6"). It didn't bother me much at first but then I came across TRP and r/short while reading reddit. Suddenly, everything started to make "sense" to me. I wasn't like others because I lacked physical stature. I would see couples where the man was significantly taller and be really sad. In my eyes, I was incapable of being attractive. All I could think was "why am I cursed with this universally unattractive trait?" and "I'm going to die alone". These thoughts became obsessive and made me super shy around any girls and it was just a loop feeding into itself. Things that didn't affect me at all before began to get to me. Every time I would see a taller woman, it would just completely shatter my confidence. I would read those studies about how 96% of women don't want want to date a man shorter than them, about how taller man get more respect, more money, are more attractive, etc. and to be honest it made me a little suicidal (which is surprising because I'm usually level headed.)

After a while, I was just too depressed to keep reading on reddit so I decided take a positive step forward and quit cold turkey. However, things didn't improve- I still saw myself as inferior and hated women for judging me on something that I could not change. My mom would point out the fact that I wasn't growing taller and once she even asked if I wanted leg lengthening done. In my mind, this was just another confirmation that women cared overwhelmingly about height. MY OWN mother suggested that I put myself through what is basically medieval torture just so I would be acceptablr by societies standards. Those were some dark times.

Fast forward to today, I still feel like an ugly troll. I still feel a bit of resentment towards women but I know women can preferences as well and I am not deserved anything by society. I would really appreciate it if someone explained to me how to stop thinking toxicly and just be normal again. I'll never be tall but maybe I can accept myself and become more respectful towards women.
