If you mean that rhetorically, got it. If you meant it literally like why would anyone literally want that, there are two answers:

One is that it’s kind of like the difference between loving a stuffed animal and loving a real pet; the latter is ALIVE with its own unpredictable ways and when they express love to you it can be delightful.

The other, more important distinction, is that of choice. A real live person can CHOOSE to love you, and that feeling of being CHOSEN to be loved is extremely empowering. A fictional character cannot choose, and so the love you feel is very one-sided.

At the risk of sounding like a weirdo, there’s something similar with sex- in my twenties it was all about hormonal, animal style kind of coupling. In my forties there is a deeper focus on consciously choosing to give/take pleasure or allow/receive pleasure. Neurotransmitters do not do justice to the different QUALITY of the two kinds of pleasure.

I suspect you already know this but was being rhetorical, but laying it out anyways for maybe other readers.
