I read a post in another sub many months ago where a woman purchased a house like this ON HER OWN. She was so excited and was talking to her bf about it. He assumed he was gonna move in with her and started TELLING her his plans for HER house. She wanted to have a vanity room, but he told her, "No, I need a gaming room so no vanity for you." She dumped him lol

This is basically what I did. My ex and I got a beautiful house together but he ended up screwing me over when we split. I had done sooo much to that house. He shittily refused to let me buy him out and condescendingly told me “Well, I believe you would TRY to be a good steward to this house...(implying I couldn’t be and that he would be a superior caretaker). Maybe ONE day you can afford your own house?”

Six months after leaving his dumbass I was able to find a comparable house that I paid cash for and have transformed beautifully. Meanwhile he and the woman he cheated on me with have caused a serious fire in the home due to their hoarding, and the outside of the house looks like a combination of a trailer park and Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride. There are literally weed trees growing out of the front steps of their house. All the exotic plants I put in have died. I cannot even imagine what has become of the koi pond in the backyard. Such great stewards... 🤣🤡

I had an epiphany in the process. I was so profoundly sad at leaving that house but I shortly realized that * I was the magic *. It wasn’t the house that held the power. I could make any space incredible and I have. I’ve seen photos of what my ex and the OW have done with the interior and it just looks lacking and spiritually vacant. A mish mash of junk haphazardly thrown together.🤷‍♀️

I just wanted to say that if anyone is reluctant to lose their home in a breakup, don’t sweat it. You will rebound 10 fold! Odds are you are probably carrying the majority of the load yourself right now anyways. I know I was, and it really shows on my ex’s home.
