I’ve lived alone for two years while in grad school. Highly recommend. There is a difference between being alone and being lonely. Living alone is very liberating and peaceful. You’ll learn a lot about yourself and your habits.

For the majority of my adult life I thought about owning a home one day with my beloved. We’d look after each other, pay the mortgage together, have a veg garden, a couple of cats and a Labrador and just be there for each other. I’m slowly starting to accept I’m never going to get there if I wait for a man to show up in my life.

The House on Mango Street is such a wonderful work of art. This vignette stands alone so well, but when read in conjunction with the rest of the book proves to be so tremendously powerful. Even Cisneros' introduction to the book, detailing her life when she was writing it, is heartfelt and more intriguing than most introductions.

I just bought my first home. It's a town house but still a house. My mom is so proud. Out of four girls, I am the only one who has owned a home in their own name fully. I am single and putting my self first after a horrible relationship. My mom proudly told everyone her baby girl bought her own house. 😊.

Yes, I'm lonely. But it's to be expected. I am finally learning about my self after an 8 year relationship from 17-26. He was very much a LVM.
