i have mentioned him before, but i have a high value brother. he married my childhood best friend (they were high school sweethearts and we are all now in our early 40s). there's a whole list of awesome shit he does to support her, but this is the most recent.

she wants a new bicycle. she hasn't come out and said it exactly, but we know she wants one. he could probably afford to snag her a low priced something or another from a department store, like dick's sporting goods, but a nice one is a lot of monies. they're both taking a financial hit with the covid crisis and he'd never take money out of the savings account without her permission.

his job has a workout incentive programme and one of the offerings (for getting like 50,000 points lol) is a REALLY nice higher end trek road bike. he quietly enrolled in the programme and has been clocking every single step, drink of water, bike ride, etc. in this stupid thing. he shares it with me and every workout is titled "X number more points until L's trek."

it's one of those heartwarming plans about a man who maybe doesn't have enough dough to get his lady something really special but he's willing to work his ass off for her.

Some nice things that my (status pending) boyfriend does: - always walks me home to my apartment, no matter how late it is. Doesn’t matter if it’s in the afternoon or 3am. He makes sure I’m safe and have gotten inside my apartment. - brings me coffee when I’m working or if he visits in the morning. It’s always unprompted as a sweet surprise - gets little gifts while he’s out. Nothing too expensive, just little treats that he knows I like - cleans/organizes my house because he knows that I’m often busy and have a habit of losing stuff -always does the dishes for me no matter what -makes me surprise dinner and desserts just to see me smile -leaves sweet notes for me on the fridge - communicates in a healthy way about his likes/dislikes as soon as he notices and encourages the same to prevent future resentment - apologizes and fixes it the first time he’s told (this one is important) - generous in bed and does not watch porn because he says it feels like he’s betraying me and because he can’t find anyone hotter anyway I can’t believe I ever accepted anything less. I once asked an ex to help me move and he said I should just hire movers...I know my current bf will always have my back

I really wanna hear more HVM stories as well. It’s really depressing and hopeless to see/hear about LVM. I keep thinking I should have just compromised with my exes flaws so I didn’t have to deal with all these LVM/dating again. It feels hopeless to find a decent partner.

He acknowledges and empathises with sexism and social and cultural inequity between women and men, and is the most pro-woman man I have ever met.
He proof reads my research, my complaint letters to the government, is supportive and tells me I'm brilliant. Every scheme I've had over the year, he has supported and never once doubted me.
He will pay for everything, unless I offer to. He will also carry all the bags and walk on the right side of the road and hold my hand.
He brings me tea in bed, and goodies home and always turns the heater on in the morning when it's cold and he has to leave for work before me.
He always walks me to the bus stop in the morning if it is dark and he isn't working, or we walk together when we both are. He had never complained about it and does not because he genuinely cares about my safety and wants to spend time with me.
Every morning when I wake up he tells me he loves me and that I look beautiful.
(Although this should be every man!) He is very clean. The house is always spotless and there are never dirty plates on the bench, or dirty clothes on the floor. I never have to ask him to help with anything because he's already done it.
He's fabulous at communicating and we are best friends.

I think this is one of the missing parts in FDS, sharing success stories! I loved reading about your adorable relationship I’ve been in one with a wonderful man for the last 1.5 years -He courted me for 5 months before I agreed to be his girlfriend and I even withheld from having sex with him for that long and instead of pushing me he patiently waited for me to be ready -He was looking to buy an apt and he was always including me in the whole process of selecting the apartment, decorations, appliances -I ended up moving with him and he was the best man to live with, he always did my laundry, I cooked and he would leave the kitchen sparkling, and made sure I got the closest parking spot -I decided to move across country for a job opportunity and he threw my a surprise goodbye party with our friends and has been consistently traveling to spend time with me -he’s an incredibly caring man, never gets mad and is very patient with me, sends me little gifts and flowers on random occasions -my family and friends that have met him adore the guy (I think this is a big one, your loved ones will always want the best for you and will immediately notice when you’re not being treated the way you deserve) -his parents raised a wonderful man and I love him so much

I've been living with my folks during lockdown and I'm always reminded what HVM my dad is. Not just the way he treats my stepmum, but me too. Including bringing me coffee in bed ever day! Good dads are the best.
