Hello all,

I wanted to outline a case study of my 6 month relationship with a millionaire, and how I screwed it up by being too much of a pickme. This ended up with me getting plated and my feelings and pride hurt. This was way before I ever found FDS, of course.

How things began:

I met Subject B on an online dating site (not an app) and did a few things right in the beginning. I wasn't terribly quick to respond, and I apparently came across as mysterious and aloof to him. Later, he admitted that he was intrigued by me and actually felt intimidated by my "glamorous lifestyle" (his words). I didn't know he was rich until our third date when he picked me up in a Porsche. I actually thought he was sorta nerdy and weird, which is why I was so aloof and distant in the beginning--and guess what? It drove him WILD. He went far out of his way to impress me. By date three he was trying to get me to come over and cook me dinner--and I agreed. He clearly thought sex was going to happen, but I made out with him for a bit, then told him I needed to get home. The real reason I was being so weird? I was convinced he was going to be a terrible lay, so I delayed sex for two months. During these two months, he bought me gifts, took me to expensive restaurants, and lavished me with attention. I didn't seem bowled over or impressed by these overtures, which I think also made him go crazy.

Where things went awry:

After I slept with him, I found out something I didn't expect--the dude was insanely good in the sack. And, I'll admit, he brought out a little bit of a sex kitten in me. I wanted to see him more. I started to ask HIM to get together before he asked me. I wanted to make sure I had him as often as I could. Then, I did something even dumber--we were having dinner, and he informed me that he'd disabled his dating profile. And I stupidly did the same thing without a commitment. I naively assumed that meant he was serious about me!! He even said he wanted to join me on my trip to Italy that I had planned in a few months!

I now think it was just a cheap manipulation to get me off the dating site, too.

Mistake #1 - Got too sexual

Mistake #2 - Started asking him on dates

Mistake #3 - Disabled my dating profile and took myself off the market without an actual commitment

Things continued to devolve...

For the next few months, I continued to be the one proactively setting up dates with him. This was partly because of the sex, and also partly because at this juncture my anxiety had mounted. If I made plans with him, I didn't have to hand-wring about his interest, or so I thought. Surely, if he was accepting plans, that meant he was into me. Now, I realize that my anxiety was because I had put all my eggs in one basket without a commitment. Even worse, I started to nag him on whether he'd decided to join me in Italy. He now was evading answering me or cagey about committing to it.

Mistake #4 - Started nagging/seeming needy

The guy never came to Italy with me, obviously. You can sense where this is going. Things ferried along for a few more months, but then when I came back from Italy, I had a little bit of an emotional meltdown and warily asked him where it was going, expecting the worst.

His answer, "I just want to see where this goes..."

You all can know where it goes. It continued to devolve until we just saw each other a few times a month. At the end, I realized....

Fuck, I'm just a plate.
