My father recently failed to find shredded mozzarella cheese.

Mom had sent him to get a few things from the store for dinner. Over an hour later he finally returned - we were all wondering what the hold up was. (I’m an adult quarantining with family.) He said he had a hard time finding things and that’s what took him so long. He really had not gotten the few things asked for. He said could only find ball mozzarella cheese - which given the timing of things we thought perhaps they were actually sold out? Turns out he never looked where packaged shredded cheese is in the store.

He plays the sad sack “oh I’m sorry, I really tried” routine. Opines about how hard it was to find things.

Mom has been sending me to the grocery store since I could drive and there’s plenty of times (to this day) where I will call and ask her where I should be looking for something or if a particular substitute works.

Not once did my father think to call home. But nah it’s a pity party about how hard it was to find things.

The longer I’m here with them the less I ever want to have a man in my life. Do not trust my vetting abilities.

This reminds me of an extremely LVM ex.

He needed such basic instructions to do anything. Stirring a pot of soup? Gotta tell him which drawer, which spoon, how to stir, where to place the spoon when done. And he would fight and groan the whole time.

My dad knows how to grocery shop, and he doesn’t do a shitty job to get out of grocery shopping, but every time I text him to get something, he can’t figure it out. Somehow when I send him a picture he works it out... Men generally seem to prefer pictures (which can be seen in a lot of things).

The amount of women moaning that supermarkets won’t let couples in because ‘poor baby won’t be able to do the shopping himself.’ I’m pretty sure if you have the list to a 10 year old, they’d manage it. Not sure why full grown men are struggling.
