TL;DR My friend called me high maintenance because during our shopping trip, I only cared about the higher quality items.

For starters, I’m a 17y/o and a senior in high school. I’ve always had higher standards and been high maintenance but in school the past 3 years, there was a significant change in my views due to my pickme friends and I was starting to become libfem. But thanks to this sub and femininity youtubers, I’ve become more high maintenance than I’ve ever been in the past.

But anyways, today I was at the mall with my friend (G). I got all dolled up for this and made sure I looked very elegant and classy just so I could feel good about myself. In the jewelry section at many places, I said how I only want sterling silver or gold plated items which G found a bit extra of me but she was fine with it. Later we passed by a bedroom shop and they were having a sale on bedsheets. I mentioned how I needed bedsheets but I prefer 800-1000 thread count and that the bedsheets on sale were of cheap quality. Then G said I was high maintenance really loudly that the girl in front of us looked at me and started listening in our conversation and laughing. I said “and that’s a good thing” and G said “yeah I guess” hesitantly. More happened but I don’t want to make this passage longer than it needs to be.

I’m really happy. I like leveling up and I can’t wait to be in college and pursue high education. Also, I’m so proud of myself that I don’t care about the girl that was laughing at me when she heard I was high maintenance. In the past, I would’ve felt super bad if I didn’t meet anyone standards. But now I meet my own standards.
