They ALWAYS cost you. Never ignore them

1 red flag may be a mistake.
2 red flags is probably not a coincidence.
3 red flags is a pattern.

Woooo girl! This is right on!

“You know, it's funny; when you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags.”

Yes! This post resonated with me https://medium.com/@kingsophiesworld/why-women-ignore-red-flags-fb637e478226

I agree, bad men never change.

"Seeing the best in people" is the worst advice ever. It's how I ended up in toxic friendships and relationships. People need to prove they are trustworthy and worth your time.

Yup. My best friend is like this. She gives everyone the benefit of the doubt, which is an admirable quality, but she takes it too far IMO. It keeps her from setting boundaries with her work and other friends, she even suggested I date this guy who she knew had a history of narcissistic tendencies. No bueno.

Even my sister fails this test over and over again. But because she is a family member, I'm expected to look the other way. When even your family won't treat you right, where do you turn?

You kind of have to separate yourself from them, in my experience.

100% yes. I saw red flags in my ex when we were still friends and weren’t even interested in each other, yet I ignored them and they came to bite me in the ass YEARS later.

Being nice and overlooking poor behavior gets you nowhere
One of the last things I told my ex, when he was trying to feed me yet another bunch of BS excuses, was, “My break cutter broke.” BYE

Even Dr Phil these days is like “giving people benefit of the doubt is for suckers.”
[–]juliannawackenhatFDS Newbie13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Really? I may have to reconsider my hatred for Dr Phil.
[–]ms_monquisFDS Disciple10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, Phil these days is savage. (When he’s not hawking something.)

You end up with bad memories and a headache.
[–]SupremeCanadianFDS Newbie27 points28 points29 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep
And this goes for literally everyone you ever meet or know. My mom and dad are constant people pleasers and it's running them both into an early grave trying to make their entire extended family happy.
I'll be sure to learn from their mistakes and focus on me.

Reminds me of the time I had a crush on NBA player Jr Smith despite his character flaws... Now seeing the drama him and his wife are in Im so glad that nothing transpired years ago when I was acquainted with him

Yeah
[–]starsheepieFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup, learned this the hard way! IDK if it was blind love or willfull ignorance, but I'm glad to have put my pickmeisha days in my past.
