So today I was suppose to go on a date with a guy. Basically we were originally going to do Labor Day but I had family plans as did he so we moved the date to Friday. Later he told me he had a job interview he was super anxious about and would prefer we do Sunday if that was ok. Because Sunday was suppose to have better weather and we were having an outdoor date (this was going to be our second time meeting up) I agreed.

Last night I checked in to make sure he was still down for Sunday, he was.

This morning he was super hung over though and asked if he could move it to Tuesday.

And I did something me of a year ago would never.

I said no. I said I wouldn’t be in town Tuesday and pointed out I had cancelled plans with other people to clear out Sunday (I was just going to go on a scenic drive with my sister but still my time is too valuable to be negotiable). I firmly recommended he take some ibuprofen and meet at an agreed about time.

And then he changed his tone and said actually he could do today. And when I got to the location he surprised me with some snacks (not anything incredible but it was thoughtful and this is the second time we’ve gone out and he’s paid so it wasn’t a bad feeling). We had a nice time and then hugged and talked about a third date.

So while nothing is serious and I’m still skeptical as all hell I’m already amazed at how much more respect we as women get when we don’t give into men (well men who are of any value that is, obviously nvm just get pissy if they don’t immediately get their way). I’m proud of myself of sticking to my will. I told myself that even if he canceled today I’d take myself on a date and have a fun time and I was totally expecting that to happen and it’s interesting it didn’t.

The world is just so much better when you don’t put yourself in positions where other people call the shots or when you depend on someone else to spend your day with.
