I would just say make sure to not let them be around your family a lot or at all until you're sure about them. There's no reason a boyfriend should be close to your family early on or hang around them at all. Many people who are closer to their families seem to make that mistake. Then when you break up, a lot of parents who who should be unconditionally supportive of their daughters in these kinds of decisions, but aren't, end up disappointed because they've gotten closer to him and they just saw the best sides of him. Your parents aren't dating him, there's no reason some guy from a few months relationship should be with you at Christmas. I have always avoided this and I'm saying it because I've seen friends and acquaintances do this. This guy who you've known for 6 months is not your family so maybe chill with the excessive closeness for now.

What is the best strategy for when to introduce boyfriends or dates to your family? I don't recall seeing much about that in the handbook. I've introduced some earlier than others, and normally consider it a red flag if they haven't brought up family intros after a few months (like 3-6 months). That being said I could see the argument for not really treating a guy like it's "serious" until he starts talking marriage. But then I don't get the benefit of being able to vet his family and make sure they're not weirdos, which is an issue for me since In Law drama is why I dumped my fiancé.

Once upon a time, I attended my then boyfriend's cousin's wedding. We hadn't even been dating that long at the time, but I was on good terms with his parents and siblings. When it came to family photos, I politely asked to be excluded.

Everyone insisted I be a part of them.

Sometimes I think about that couple who has me, a practical stranger, in their wedding photos still.

Y'all this makes me think of a hilarious picture I have floating around. It's at my mom's wedding and we were all doing the whole "okay now you and you in" etc. photos. My ex husband is in one of them... but he's like way off in the background. It's so painfully awkward whenever I come across that picture.

My LV ex thought he was better than my friends, so in group pics he stood off to the side looking visibly awkward. Jokes on him, easier to crop out
