Her name was Martha Nelson!

"During the time Martha was birthing these doll babies to allow them to be “adopted” at trade shows, a guy named Xavier Roberts sauntered through one of them in 1976. He bought up a few of them and then ended up selling, or adopting them out, at his own shops in Georgia. He was also selling them for a pretty steep price compared to Martha and this alarmed and concerned her.

Despite being a shy person, Martha actually confronted Roberts and ended up taking them back. He allegedly had said that if he couldn’t sell her dolls he would sell some just like them.

Ugh. This reminds me of a photographer that took photos of Emily Ratajowski like ten years ago for a racy photo shoot, and now he is selling a book of all the photos he took that were never published and is profiting off of them. There was an article saying she never signed anything that gave him permission to use them and she tried to fight it but idk whatever came of it. Men profiting off of women’s bodies makes me so mad.

Yes - her game was called The Landlord's Game and it had two sets of rules - one similar to today's Monopoly where you use unfettered Capitalism to bankrupt your opponents, and one socialist version where you work together. The point was to show how much richer everyone becomes working together.

From memory Hasbro kinda tricked her into signing away her rights (which was what the $500 was for) and it wasn't until much later that she realised they'd stolen her game.
