It's amazing how the book assumes there is a plethora of decent guys out there who will treat you well, and women are just sooo picky because they want to marry guys at least 6 ft and making 6 figures a year. It's such a lie. We are already taught to settle in every single area (hobbies, humor, intellect, respect, affection, earning, parenting skills, domestic/emotional labor, looks, assertiveness, and social skills). There needs to be a FDS counter to this book.

Written by an awful therapist who uses her client's stories as fodder for her books. She should be barred from practicing. Her insistence on settling has done her no good as she can't seem to find anyone worth settling on.

What i find interesting is that the author is a single mom by choice and went the sperm donor route. Her latest book focuses a lot on the emotional turmoil she experienced after getting dumped by her fiance.

I read the book many years ago, and my takeaway was simply that it only gets worse. So if marriage is the only goal (and it seems it is for some pickmeishas) don’t hold out for a perfect man because he DOESN’T FUCKING EXIST. The book solidified that I will never marry.

The only time I could understand settling is if you're not doing well yourself and you're not in a place to where you can elevate your life on your own, be it due to circumstances or trauma or whatever. Not saying it's right or the best way to handle the situation, but really the only reason I could conceive of this. Just needing someone there as an emotional/financial crutch. Sadly I see this often on both ends, but at least I kind of get it. Settling just for the sake of reproduction though, oof. Just adopt or have sperm donated. It's not likely whoever you settle for in that instance will be much help raising the child or in taking care of the family home anyway so just cut the dead weight and get a dog or a weighted blanket to sleep with until you maybe find someone better IMO.
