The IT guys at my company are such a horror show it's actually cartoonish. Not only do they actively outdo each other at "Who's the stinkiest most disgusting disheveled specimen to exist among humans" but the look in their eyes is downright feral, startled and unpredictable. They also suck at the job so bad that employees had to learn to solve most of the problems on their own.

Right there with you. I was at a work conference the other week for an industry where a solid 80% of the attendees were basement dwelling creeps. Everything from the leering to the fake innocent "I don't mean to bother you but--" to touching my arm to get my attention while I was wearing big noise cancelling over the ear headphones, it's all ramped up and I'm completely over it. And we can't even talk about it in real life because it just sounds fake and adults shouldn't act like that. I literally had a student approach me because my employer was listed on my conference badge and he's job hunting. His pitch was solid, his resume was decent, aaaand then he tanked it by asking if I had plans for dinner. I said no and not 20 minutes later he found me on LinkedIn and sent me a list of restaurants to pick from.

This is one of the reasons I'm so glad I work in the arts - almost all women or gay men. Yes, you definitely have to deal with a handful of narcissists with huge egos, which I hate, but most people are great.

Same sis. Thankfully I work from home now. But still, on Zoom meetings, you'll get the typical "jokes" of strip on cam or show some skin. Even some pickmeishas on our department are laughing at it. I'm just waiting for our project to finish and I'm out of that place. You can't even report them to HR because most of them are bosses and I know for a fact that the HR protects the company, not the employees 🙄🙄🙄

It's sad that we define misandry as the rational and realistic fear that women feel for men. Men get to kill us, rape us, torture us, abuse us, and treat us like walking sex/baby machines but as soon as we are afraid of the consequences of their dangerous attitudes we are suddenly man haters? Oh noooo I've literally never met a normal computer dude. My dad is one, complete narcissistic freak. This is probably giving away too much info, but at my university there was an incident of a comp sci student sexually harassing his PROFESSOR during a lecture, and the comp sci society apparently including a rapist in their committee. Female computer scientists are the opposite, they're cool, they're gorgeous, they're smart, they're everything. Male ones, nope nope nope. Misogynistic, porn addicted and often very predatory. That is scary and my suggestion is to make a fake persona that'll fool them. Document and report, but when they complain say something like "ugh I wonder who. probably some angry feminist who thinks everything is harassment!" so they don't suspect you. Request an escort to your car if needed, carry pepperspray or anything that can be used to defend yourself. If they genuinely threatened you with those (I can't tell if they did or its one of your fears) then you need to go to the police. They might not do anything but atleast there's a paper trail.

Personal confession since you mention computer guys. I'm majoring in CS and I'm honestly terrified and not looking forward to going back to campus in person. We still have remote learning for some classes. I already know it's going to be rife with sexual harassment and them just bugging me and whoever other female. It's already happened in other classes like some writing one I need to take and some CS majors happen to be taking it as well. They are so fucking creepy and I'm not ready for the sexpest nerds and uwu programmer socks creeps.

I feel you.

I work around hyper masculine (usually to cover up massive insecurities like balding or having feelings) men who talk loudly and crudely about other women with such arrogance. Plus a few racist remarks here and there.

But I can’t say anything because they are such bros with every other man that I know that nobody would stick up for me. Plus they’re super aggressive that I know they would try to hurt or intimidate me if they knew I was going to complain about them.

I find your post worrying. Please make sure you stay safe. Report to HR any behaviour outside the line or any stalking to the police. Don’t engage in any personal chats, do your work and go home. Start looking for another job if you can. Good luck.
