Mental stability is core and a huge factor in being the best you you can be. It should be required that we all seek mental stability in one form or another. And it should also be clear that nothing should stand in the way of that. This should be true for you and your partner.

Factors that may impacts mental health:

  1. If a job/career path is stressing you out to the point you feel unwell, look into leaving. Budget your expenses and see how much money is required to keep yourself a float. Money is NOT EVERYTHING. Long term mental stress can increase your chances of death at an early age. A job is not worth your stability mentally.... I was making 80K at one point in my life projected to make 6 figures in 3-5 years if a kept up my drive. One day I just got up and quit (due to mental instability), taking a job making half of what I make. It was worth it. Budget your mental health as a factor in your life that is of the utmost importance. Do not sacrifice it, not even for money.
  2. If a relationship (romantic or otherwise) stresses you out walk away, regardless of the time you have spend with that person or what you have acquired together. If you two are married discuss your options with a lawyer one specifically well-versed in divorce. Begin to look into options for yourself. Lastly tell yourself it's okay. Daily people are denied the right to leave because of obligations, you have none to stay.
  3. Environment may also be the cause of stress. Sometimes where you live, sites you visit, and groups you are within can trigger you. If you are too heavily invested in something such as site (social media or otherwise), step away for a while. You should never allow the internet to spill into your true reality. If it's where you live think of a place where your beliefs, ideal, and overall self is more accepted. This is surely true for WOC, and people with the LGBTQ+ community.

Advice on steps that can be taken and things that may occur

  1. Be open to being uncomfortable. In some case big chances like career, relationship, locations, etc can make one feel uncomfortable. It takes time for someone to settle into specific things. You will not always feel positive about your decision, but in the long run as your mental health improves you 9/10 will.
  2. Seek professional help. PLEASE!!!
  3. Be willing to listen to others ideas/outlook that may not align with yours. Older HVW are perfect people who can give you insight to ordeals that you may have once thought of one way. In my youth I was very dismissive of my mental health, even though my mother attested to it being one the most important things. Well she was right, nothing feels better than being content with yourself mentally.
  4. Take your time. This isn't a race, your mental wellbeing is important but it does take time. It is okay that Lisa (random person) fully recovered and you didn't yet. You are healing at your own pace.

I want to lastly say we all make mistakes. We pick the wrong people, we pick the wrong paths, we go into the wrong fields THAT'S OKAY. Sometimes we stay there a little longer than we are suppose to DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP. Also mental stability directly helps one with spotting red flag don't put it on the back burner. You got this. Good luck on your journey/road to mental stability.
