Okcupid is really shitty. Are men really like this in real life?

I've tried paid apps; the men on those are just as bad as on the free ones. I finally deleted all the dating apps, and am enjoying the peace.

I met a nice man at a Christmas party, and I've been on a few dates with him. I'm going to continue meeting men in real life.

I think OkCupid is one of the worst ones. Something about the types of men on that app irks me. A lot of men in their 30s and 40s who live in a fantasy world and have no sense of responsibility. I'd rather use Tinder.

One thing i've noticed about most men is that they seem dumber over text for some reason. Most women understand how to convert lanhuage into different mediums but men are a little bit more simple. No matter who they are, they just seem worse when texting. Luckily it's a very good way to see their red flags and it makes sense that an amazing majority of men have a lot of red flags which is why you realize their shittyness so fast. Plus i think Okcupid is, for some reason, very popular amongst more desperate men, i mean more than some other dating sites. Is Okcupid more affordable or something?

Just found out the guy I met on okcupid he has been seeing and having sex with his ex the entire time we were together :( I’m older so I’m dating men in their 30s and they are not getting any better.

You're not alone. I tried OkC briefly. Men who messaged me included:

Ones who were completely incompatible with me (sent me a message indicating they read part of my profile but not the part where we had a fundamental incompatibility)

One who asked me about a dealbreaker on first message

One posing with his giant gun

Multiple guys over 10+ years older than me with selfies in bed/that low unflattering camera angle with a scary mad/frustrated face

Someone gracing me with a "hey" message. He was seeking polyamory (I'm not)

Needless to say, OKC is trash but at the same time filters out so many train wrecks with its questions.

Coffee Meets Bagel seems a bit more serious. Fingers crossed. Best of luck to you <3

I've done pretty much all of them and the guys on OKCupid are representative of the guys on OLD in general, I'm afraid. I do like that you can get more info up front on OKCupid, but that doesn't seem to help in the long run. The guys on all of the OLD platforms are pretty terrible and super low effort. I've paid and it doesn't help.
