Having spent much of my life being financially insecure, I am interested in prepping - it helps me feel secure that if I lose my job (which happened during lock down) I still have food etc. So I browse r/preppers.

Today I saw a post titled: "Boyfriend thinks I'm crazy, not letting me keep preps in home. Suggestions?"

Basically this girl saw how empty the shops got during lockdown and wants to stock up supplies in case it happens again. Her (LVM) boyfriend keeps stopping her and complaining.

As I scrolled through the comments, the majority just seemed to tell her to dump him/get a new boyfriend/red flag. It was amazing! I think most of the replies were from men and they gave great advice!

Here's a selection of their comments, they are EVERYTHING:

  • Just because your SO doesn’t like something doesn’t mean they can’t support you and your interests. Being with someone who belittles you for your interests is never a good thing.

  • Appeal to his “put a ring on it or stfu” side and spend your money how you want.

  • Your ex boyfriend you mean?

  • I would advise you to consider “prepping” for a new man.

  • I agree with everyone else here. He should be supporting you and your concerns, and if he isn't then that should tell you something.

  • Find a new boyfriend. They aren't hard to replace. /s But seriously, consider how much he actually adds to your life.

  • Yeah. That doesn’t seem like a healthy relationship.

  • Incompatible, you care about self-preservation and he doesn't. It is up to you what to do.

I just hope the girl listens to them!

Stay prepped, Queens (and buy a drill).
