LVM don't do that, they see you succeed in something and always sneakily try to knock you back down.

This looks like a creative project too, I can see why she would prefer to have control over it rather than wait for his help.

Thanks to learning how to fix planes, I figured out I could fix basically anything in a house. For anything else, I'll call the property manager. And then I'll stand there watching the repair person so I can learn something. Forget being helpless.

I'm childfree, but if I ever had a daughter I would teach her everything I know about tools, home repair, mechanics.

I’ve done this. Three classes later and I built a custom mid century modern dresser in 4 months from lumber to living room.

I milled that lumber myself. Every man in the woodshop I worked in discouraged me from doing it - they told me it was beyond my skill level.

They all shut the fuck up when I installed the last drawer 4 months later.

Lol, that’s the kind of stuff I do to redecorate—I love working with my hands and DIY crafting, everything from furniture to painting to sewing and crocheting. With that being said, my husband knows how to do a decent bit of auto maintenance and repair at home, and he also gets in the nitty gritty with basement and yard work, light plumbing, etc. We both bring smart, money-saving skills to the table and don’t have to nag each other about getting any of it done because it’s stuff we are more inclined to do personally. If she’s that handy and skilled she should be with someone who’s also self-motivated, handy and skilled.

I think the question that needs answered is, what do we want them for?

Because, of course we can do all this stuff! Who do you think kept everything going while the men were off fighting and dying in whatever that generation’s war was? If stuff broke, we couldn’t wait for The Men to maybe come home. We had to fix it!

Time after time, we set up shop for ourselves (literally and figuratively) and then they’d burn it all down (or steal it!) when they got back.

Which is why there are so few books or traditions attributes to women. It’s not because they were really that effective at keeping us barefoot and pregnant, it’s because they kept destroying the evidence to the contrary!!!
