Women who defend the pornography industry are big yikes. It’s the most fucking inherently misogynistic institution in existence. It’s one of the biggest (the biggest?) promoters of sexual aggression, violence, and degradation against women. Not to mention it encourage pedophilia. Women in porn are often raped, drugged, tricked, manipulated, etc. Literally has normalized the objectification of women and sexual violence.

I used to be addicted to porn myself until I stumbled across radical feminism and educated myself. A lot of women won't have realized how damaging porn really is and we shouldn't shun them for their ignorance. It is our duty to help our sisters realize the ways in which they are being oppressed, for as much as we can. Maybe we can have a wiki post we link to every time porn is mentioned?

I agree, I would suggest trying to get away from that nasty stuff and use your imagination like people did since the beginning of time. It’s easy for humans to justify pretty much anything they do. We are better than that. Most people are well aware that most porn actors are not well in the head and are generally addicts and suffer from mental illness and/or psych issues. I refuse to support an industry that destroys women. Men don’t give a shit, they’ll say they deserve it b/c they aren’t getting any, or it’s a natural need, and that the actors are fine and enjoying the pay and even make claims that the women enjoy themselves. Oh yes I’m sure it’s every young woman’s dream to have a gaping anus, get chocked, cum on by random men, have massive penises violently pumped into them, etc.

What started out as softer stuff, w-on-w, fairly “normal” sex, (does anyone remember as kids trying to tune into the playboy channel on cable in the 80s?), has devolved into some truly repulsive, incredibly degrading filth. You’re also contributing to generations of men adopting a twisted mindset towards women, as well as being terribly unsatisfying lovers. You’re helping give men a place to view teenage girls getting reamed by these beasts, probably a lot of them are NOT legal even and possibly trafficked. And how many of these porn addicts can’t even get it up for women anymore and are content just to fap all day to weirder and weirder stuff? I just can’t come up with any reasons to be porn positive.

My ex left me to go into porn. I’m 29f he’s 31m. I realize this is extreme but do not mistake their interest in it as innocent, I’m really not sure why women defend it so much. And I had two girls in that industry reach out to me after dating him. They were both younger and he was gaslighting them and I’m glad they reached out. However along with their questions about him things about their jobs came out and I could never support that industry again. Abuse is common, those girls aren’t getting paid well, protection of men who are abusive, financial manipulation and so much more. If you think it’s bad it’s about 50 times worse than that in reality.

I am 35 and i just find it odd how normalized porn has become. Not just porn but like, I notice with "younger" guys, meaning guys who went through their teens with internet porn available (generally speaking) are way worse at sex. This is just a generalization, but it seems to be true in my experience.

Because they expect it to be like porn. Its not about connecting one on one or having a special experience. And they seem to expect things to just be like a porn formula and that you have to do "everything" (who decided what a sexual experience has to entail? porn did) otherwise its not real sex. Guys around my age and older dont assume that sex is incomplete without a blowjob. I dunno, its just really weird.

It also weirds me out that watching porn isnt considered inappropriate in a relationship.

That being said I dont "look down" on people who use porn or what have you, and maybe its useful for people who want a kind of mindless objectified type of sexual experience (although porn tends to focus on objectifying women and thats another problem). I just find it kind of weird/unhealthy thing that seems to produce a lot of problems for people who want to have real intimacy or a real special connection.

Hey y’all. We don’t have an “official” position on porn, because “porn” is a very broad category full of a lot of different things. That being said, if your boyfriend is into barely legal teen ass rape or porn that is degrading or abusive to women, yeah, I would expect this sub to not defend that shit.

An entire generation of women have been raised with the message that porn is ok, and in order to be truly sex-positive, we need to embrace porn as a tool for sexual arousal. So it’s unrealistic for people to think every woman is aware of the abuse that going on in major porn production companies. Some people truly have no idea and have never even thought about it beyond the lack of obvious negative effects in their own lives.

Here’s a great opportunity for women to educate each other, and yet most of the anti-porn crowd immediately jump to telling women to get out of here, attacking their character, name calling, etc.

How about we elevate ourselves beyond the cliche of women attacking one another to feel a sense of superiority? I think we can do better. How about we approach other women with the intention of educating and with the understanding that we have been programmed to be ok with porn. Pass along resources that may challenge their previously decided stance on the issue of porn. It’s unrealistic to think people will change their beliefs immediately, that’s not how humans work in general. And instead of behaving like reactive imbeciles, how about we share what we’ve learned with each other and stop the cheap attempts at character assassination?

Edit: ok, so I’m being downvoted for telling women to educate their peers instead of alienating and attacking them? I am actually disappointed that such an important message is being drowned out by toxic behavior. How can we expect men to treat us better when we choose to treat each other with disrespect? I guess some people see themselves as better than their female peers. Smells like internalized misogyny to me.

I think your tone is way too aggressive for the point you’re making. I agree that porn addictions are real, and it shouldn’t be substituted for having a real relationship with a person. But people have their reasons for watching, and just as we shouldn’t judge people for not watching porn, we shouldn’t judge people for watching it responsibly.

Edit: I also agree that porn shouldn’t be posted here. This isn’t an NSFW sub.

Probably because those women watch porn too??? An estimated 30% of porn users are women; around 1 in 3, not exactly an anomaly. I get that the abusive and hardcore porn is problematic but the irony is these categories are more popular among women who watch porn, not men. Here is a another chart that compares popular categories among men and women.

I'm not pro-porn (I'm trying to break my porn habit) but it's silly to act like all female porn sympathizers are Pick Me's who want male validation when really a lot of them are hooked on porn themselves (addiction doesn't discriminate) and aren't going to hold men to a standard they themselves can't meet. FDS is PORN-NEUTRAL; women can choose what boundaries they want in their relationships, to maximize benefit for themselves.
