Not a fan of it’s framing though, as if reluctance to be vulnerable is just an error of “toxic masculinity” and not a survival strategy that mammalian males have evolved with for millions of years. I do have a reluctance to be vulnerable, but it’s not a mistake, and it’s damn sure not toxic, it is an inhibition that life has taught me because people either a.) don’t give a shit about my problems or b.) expressing myself can literally result in direct social penalties.

A big chunk of our society paints a man that steps outside of the unwritten rules as ‘weak’ or ‘feminine’ and that not only feeds into the problem of misogyny…

No, feminists always want to make it about misogyny, but it’s got nothing to do with it. Men are not penalized for asking for emotional support because that’s what women do and women are bad. It’s penalized because the role of being a man is to suspend your emotions, so women may have more space to fill with their emotions. Women aren’t considered bad for asking for emotional support, they are considered normal, it is within the woman’s gender role to ask for help. When a man asks for emotional help, the problem is not simply that he is being woman-like, the problem is that he is asking for resources that only women are supposed to have and men are explicitly supposed to abstain from so women may have more, so by asking for them, he is being selfish and taking up more space than was allotted to him. He is not weak because he is like a woman, he is weak because he is asking for something that isn’t supposed to be for him. It’s like a man who get’s on the life boat after the “woman and children” first command has been called. That guy is going to be shunned, not because he is acting like a woman, but because he stole a spot on that life boat that was reserved for a woman. I think the same thing is true with men asking for help, help is not supposed to be for men, it has more to do with misandry than it does misogyny. Feminists end up reinforcing this narrative by enforcing the narrative that men have all the power in society, even when they are dirt poor, and don’t deserve help as much as women deserve help.

So yeah, I really enjoyed seeing all those women talk about how much they support their men, but it always feels like I’m being gaslit when our problems are framed through a feminist narrative where it’s all just irrational toxic masculinity that men do because they’re too brainwashed to not do it.

Ugh...why are they still calling it "toxic masculinity"? Even "internalised misandry" would be a lot better. Can't they just...drop that divisive phrase?

How does one find this kind of woman?

I'm asking because I'm genuinely curious if I'm just being an idiot and looking in the wrong places, or if I have some kind of tragically fatal attraction. I commented in the other recent thread about this how utterly alien this stuff seems to me. I don't mean to belabor the point or paint all women with the same brush of course, but it just conflicts with my life experiences to such an extreme degree that I have a gut temptation to decry it as fake.

I don't know which is worse; thinking that or thinking a woman out there like that might exist but that I'll never meet her.
