Yes! They always use this point to talk about missing indigenous women and never about indigenous men even though the numbers or missing indigenous men and women are near identical. It’s very disingenuous. I do think some of them just don’t realize that the numbers are identical because men don’t have advocacy and would change their language if they knew. But advocating for men is so risky, particularly for people like me who work in “woke” industries

Also, Gabby Petito and I are both Long Islanders. Call me any name you want but I’m more emotionally invested in people from my community than people from across the country. That’s human nature.

Recently there has been around 5 stabbings in my area since the start of last week. Four of those were Asian men or boys. One of them was an Asian teacher, Sabina Nessa, who was killed and she’s been all over my social media. Not one post for the men.

Not saying we should care less about women but pointing out how forgotten men are. The ‘woman’ part is really important.

I like the TV Tropes page of "Missing White Woman Syndrome", as it mentions the preference of reporting about women over men:

The term Missing White Woman Syndrome describes the fact that Western media will focus on the murder, kidnapping, or disappearance of Caucasian females — usually pretty, young, and middle- or upper-class — to the exclusion of male, minority, poor, or disabled missing persons.

Advocating visibility for PoC makes you look like a hero, advocating for male visibility makes you look like an MRA and therefor Satan.

Yep, I think its because many are only conscious about the differences in race, not gender.

One of the most frustrating things about how gender and race influence systems in our society is that white women (and especially attractive, rich, middle/upper class white women) tend to be given loads of privileges without much criticism. We hold them on a pedastal because its easier to care about a pretty white feminine face than a dark skinned male one.

People are more angry about the "White" part because compared to white men and men of color, WOC don't recieve any extra coverage just because they're women, since they're not the beauty standard they're seen as aggresive, ugly, violent, and stupid just like how misandrists think about men. Racist logic is very similar to that.

So it's more about them being White and white women than just their womanhood, since the billions of black women don't seem to matter.
