I understand completely where you’re coming from, Instagram has been riddled with “mens bad” today.

I honestly don’t understand the naivety in thinking that education plus calling out sexist behavior prevents violent kidnapping and murder. The fact that men as a demographic are blamed for this lunatic’s gruesome crimes is extremely disillusioning.

When serial killers who murder women are discussed, we never talk about the patriarchy and how men making sexist jokes and catcalling lead to these murders, we acknowledge that the killer was either deeply ill mentally or a complete sadist. So why is it different in these one off cases?

To add on to this, there has been this statistic going around that 180 women were murdered last year in the UK, and that this is evident of a systemic problem where in men need to be educated to stop murdering women.

Leaving out the 609 men who were murdered last year, because frankly, nobody cares

I empathise 100%, and am feeling in a similar way, less because of high profile people but because of my friends, people I once respected and thought were very reasonable, posting the same anti-male rhetoric.

I think the most sensible thing, as sad as it is, is to lay low and just try to ignore it for the next week or two... I've debated a couple of people I thought were very reasonable and it just always turns nasty no matter how polite you are, it's just not worth it.

All this outrage is partly manufactured for attention, so it'll recede again after a couple of weeks.

For what it is worth the world needs more people like you who recognise that this shouldn't be an opportunity to bash all men. The truth is this. They hate men and couldn't give less of a shit about them. Society sees you as nothing more than a disposable workhorse to provide for women and if you're not doing that you're scum. You don't have inherent worth in society, if you're not providing you are nothing. This is why men who are jobless are vilified as neets but the same doesn't happen to women, why you buying stuff for yourself rather than spending it on women makes you a "manchild" or "having a midlife crisis", why men who choose to not get into relationships with women are vilified as extremist hate groups. Indeed, even these days it's still "including X women and children", men get murdered left and right and no one gives a shit but one woman dies and it's a tragedy, why there are so many services for women who are DV victims and homeless women and a fraction for men despite men being DV victims in similar number and 4x homeless population, why women face basically no consequences for shit like paternity fraud or babytrapping and the government actively encourages it, false rape accusers get a slap on the wrist. Society doesn't give one fuck about you, unlike women who have inherent societal worth, and will happily hate and vilify you if it means it provides some benefit to women (like we are seeing here).

This is the sad truth of life. It's something that sucks but is impossible to ignore and no choice to accept. But you know what the important takeaway is? This isn't you're fault, it's not because there is anything wrong with you. Those who would dare call you scum simply because of what is between your legs are the problem, not you. You aren't responsible for other men no matter how much they tell you otherwise. Yes it sucks knowing they hate you for what you were born as, but there is nothing you can do about it. Instead ignore it, work on yourself, and give them no more than the absolute minimum necessary by law, because no way will they be giving you anything if you get in a pinch.

I was also totally flabbergasted by this. While in the Netherlands not long ago a boy was killed by his former girlfriend and her new boyfriend, this is what makes the news, and long articles appear about the unsafety for women everywhere. The deep structure of this is of course not trying to make the world safer, but reinforcing gynocentrism, androphobia and misandry. Most people simply don't know the crime figures, and of course every murder is one too much, but not every murder proves what the world is like for men and/or women.

Stay strong brother. As someone who always is quite affected by anti-male sentiment, you're not alone.

I was really surprised that there was such a fuss over this murder, as I'd just seen the headline when checking BBC News.

While the abduction part is shocking, and any death is really tragic, the headline didn't strike me differently than any other murder headline. When I ended up turning on the radio and going on social media, it was crazy to see people acting like men were now a societal problem.

I'll quote something I wrote about this.

Essentially, men are being treated as if they're guilty simply for sharing the same gender as a murderer and are asked to carry the collective blame for the guilt of very few, and those men are not okay with something that's not just so blatantly sexist, but also something virtually nobody but the murderer(s) had anything to do with. Now people are calling those men fragile or attacking them for having a problem with a sexist collective gender blaming approach. Peak delusional narcissistic anti-male entitlement.

I was harsher than usual here, but to be honest, a lifetime of seeing this reaction when it comes to men/me hasn't made me get used to it or see them with more sympathy with how toxic everything is. I feel more inclined to check-out of society or not help anyone I see at all, but of course that's just "feelings" which is what started all of this; helped nobody, and I'd act differently anyway. Blindly following feelings is what got everything in such a shite situation anyway. Microaggressions, PC, racism, etc.

I'd also rather fear something than be killed by the reality of it at a multiple times higher rate. I can get theraphy or help for my fears, but I can't unkill myself.

It’s stupid as fuck. Trying to use this tragedy as a political vehicle is sick. Men go missing and get killed/die more often, but all I’ve heard is that this shows how much danger women are in. There are 1000s of men for every 1 that would do something like this, but I’ve seen plenty of “men are evil” type comments.

Jess Phillips reading the names of women that have died at the hands of men in the past year, fuck off. Fear mongering cunt.

As if the way to prevent these things from reoccurring is to vilify men even more. They wouldn’t do that with dogs yet they’ll do it with other people?

Also suffering with this today. I work in retail and all of today's newspapers here had headlines about how violent men are. At one point I got up from the checkout and moved the Daily Telegraph out of my line of sight because it had a strapline reading 'male violence is something we live with, whoever we are, wherever we go'. And that shows how wide ranging this broadside against us is, given that The Telegraph is a right wing paper. This current anti-male mania is an across the aisle unholy alliance between feminists/liberals and tradcons, who both have 'protect women' as their highest goal.

We'll start to see the true depths of misandry if Sarah Everard's killer gets diagnosed as some flavour of psychopath. In theory this should take us off the hook, but it won't because radical feminists and the likes of Jess Phillips think that all men are basically just psychopath-lite anyway. I've already seen people like Ted Bundy, who are profoundly mentally ill, characterised as products of toxic male culture.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to take a step back from the gender fight for a while. It gets you down and it can be difficult to pick yourself back up. I've personally found myself trying to stay away from TV and the internet. The constant barrage can be very difficult to deal with.

Im in the US, but I find that feeling like I can do something helps. Write something to show to people or not, or work with some friends to organize a protest idk man, but that helps me.

if it gets to hard take a break for like a hour or two and just reset
