Conversation “ranks” should be controlled by actual understanding, you don’t let a cult member lead the discussion on how to deal with cults (ex cult member speaking here), you don’t let a male feminist lead the conversation on men’s abuse over Erin Pizzey, you don’t let Candice Owens lead the conversation on, well, anything except how to grift, it’s about who can display understanding and actually back up what they’re saying, but just because someone has less understanding doesn’t mean they should be immediately shut out of the conversation

I don't want advocacy for men to be the mirror image of the sanctimonious, exclusionary shut-up-and-sit-down intersectional feminism that sadly has taken over the mainstream. That rule only even begins to make sense when it's about "lived experiences", aka personal anecdotes.

Being a man does not magically make one a subject matter expert on male issues. Neither does not being a man prevent you from being an expert, or from having the right ideas, or from having empathy for men.

But then you wrote "I believe the issue of male suicide, should not be dictated to, led or gatekept by feminism either". So what is it? Most women don't self-identify as feminist. Some men do however. Should people not apply the framework of feminism to men's issues? Yeah, especially if it's the currently popular one. Should all women sit down and shut up? Hell no!

Part of advocacy is learning when to sit down and listen.

The conversation of racism, should be led by the minorities most affected by it.

The conversation of gay rights, should be led by the gay community.

The conversation around women’s reproductive rights, must be led by the women fighting for them.

And yes, so too this must be consistent with the issue of male suicide and mens mental health

With the voice of the male experience lifted up, amplified and heard.

Yet, it so often isn’t.

Often I see this male experience dictated to, yet again, by feminist ideologues.

Those who have no real understanding of what it’s like to live as a man, yet feel entitled enough to speak on our behalf regardless.

So why not just sit down and be quiet?

Why not learn the lesson you taught me, yourself?

‘This isn’t about you.’

Serious question: Why should conversations about women's reproductive rights be led by women? Why should I, as a man, sit, listen and learn? Is my position, opinion and knowledge not as valid as any? (or rather, not valid based on expertise?)

I know identity politics and intersectionality works like this, but since when do we at LWMA judge ones opinion based on his immutable characteristics?

And where do "reproductive rights" begin and where they end? Is paper abortion question of women's reproductive right? Is abortion of a 8.9 months old fetus still a question of women's reproductive right? Or why should I, as a man, shut up when the catholic women of Poland let other pregnant women die rather than abort a dying fetus?

Why only reproductive rights? Do you think legality of sex work is a topic that should not be discussed by men? Would you tell a women to not to lead discussion if two boys were going to bully a third boy?

What a BS argument.
