[β]Iperovic32 points33 points34 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
All women live in cognitive dissonance...society keeps telling them one thing, their nature another and it's why we have this chaos.

This is not cognitive dissonance, this is full blown doublethink
[β]WaywardStag77 points78 points79 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
It actually makes sense.
As men, we know we are capable of looking after ourselves and don't need to latch on to a high income earner for security. So high income earning men couple with women of vastly different income levels.
If there's a 20% pay gap (hypothetically), but 50% of high income men are with low-mid income women, the pool of high income men available to high income women is less than 1 to 1. That means high income women either have to stay single, or be less shallow and date men who earn less than themselves.
What I find most interesting is the entitled tone of these kinds of headlines. Why does society accept this gold digging bullshit in the first place? Clearly a headline like "Men are struggling to find women who haven't slept around" would generate complaints, but women's shitty behaviour is accepted universally.
[β]justiceavenger242 points43 points44 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women worship, that is why. When you put someone on a pedestal dont be surprised when they look down on you.
[β]NathanHollister14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Except the pay gap has been disproven, which is the point of the OP.
[β]WaywardStag19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Of course there is a pay gap, it's very easy to get statistics about male and female yearly earnings and they clearly show that men earn more than women. The point is that the pay gap is caused by choices not discrimination.
[β]Nybaz13 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Earnings and pay are different things. A woman is paid the same as a man for the same job, because it would be illegal doing otherwise.
The men earn more because they work more, both quantitatively and qualitatively.

My apologies, because English is not my first language, my understanding is that pay is intended as pay per hour, while earnings means the total. Also, obviously I intended same job as in all things being equal, which obviously is very difficult.
Bottom line is, I think you are right, women generally earn less, because they work less ours, or are less qualified.
[β]L_Ollonais3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same pay rate but you work fewer hours, choose fewer overtime opportunities, and take more time off... Pay and earnings ARE different.
[β]meshflesh4064 points65 points66 points 6 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
I have yet to find a woman making less money than me for doing the same job. These myths need to stop.
But I have met women at work that make less than because
A) they dont do overtime like i do B) they have children and always have to take off from work. To tend to them (understandbly so).
And in general,, women take on less dangerous jobs and work kess hours to tend to their families.
That is the real reason for the wage gap, nothing more nothing less.
[β]ThePlague25 points26 points27 points 6 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link
It's been illegal in the U.S. for almost 60 years to pay women less than men for the same work and with the same experience. However, the persistence of the "gender wage gap" myth, more accurately called an "earnings gap", is due to women love winning the victim olympics. The simple truth is that, as a group, they don't work as much as men and that completely explains why as a group they earn less.
Women participate in the labor force at a much lower rate than men: https://www.bls.gov/emp/tables/civilian-labor-force-participation-rate.htm
And when they do participate, the work fewer hours: https://www.bls.gov/opub/ted/2015/time-spent-working-by-full-and-part-time-status-gender-and-location-in-2014.htm
From the first link: In 2018, 69.1% of Men 16 and older worked, while 57.1% of Women worked. That makes for a 1.21 ratio. That's over 20% right there. The second link has employed men working an average of 8.1 hours per day (both full and part-time) while employed women only work 7.3 hours. That's a ration of 1.11, For a combined (Participation Rate Ratio x Hours worked ratio) of 1.34. That's over a third more total man hours than women hours engaged in employment.
[β]throwlaca19 points20 points21 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
The "Wage gap" doesn't refer to same compensation for the same job. It refers to the problem that a man working as a CEO earns more than a girl working as a receptionist.
I know its stupid to compare those two jobs, but that's actually the "wage gap" that feminists discuss. They want women CEOs and men receptionists. By the force of law, if necessary.
[β]ThePlague12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Right, or the whole "women in STEM" thing, since those fields generally earn well. They've been throwing money at women to go into STEM since at least the mid 80s (scholarships, grants, etc), and it still hasn't made much of a dent.
[β]NathanHollister14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's almost like women don't want to go into STEM.
[β]throwlaca11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They hate it. Hate it with all their guts, and when they finally cave and get into stem, they do a weird, different version of "Stem" work, generally focused on people, relationships or emotions and sidestep the real work. I've seen this happens countless times. They just can't do it.
[β]BertTheWelder3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
When my company posts want-ads for low-level administrative staff, it tends to get mostly female applicants. When it posts ads for blue collar jobs, it gets mostly male applicants. The blue collar jobs tend to pay a bit better than the admin jobs, and thatβs because if we tried to hire blue collar folks at receptionist wages, we would have few if any qualified applicants.
I wonder what would happen if we interviewed a candidate for a receptionist and told her that her resume is so impressive we have a higher-paying job we want to put her in, but it requires her to wear a hard hat and work outside, regardless of the weather.

[β]tommygun16887 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So you're mathematically saying women earn more for less work?
[β]ThePlague5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, it depends on what they're claiming the "wage gap" is: if they claim that women earn about 67 cents or more for every dollar a man makes, then yes, women would be earning more for less work.
[β]Stahlboden5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Another "misogynistic" thing to add is there are "ladies' ways" for earning money or other valuable things that are not registered anywhere, don't go into wage stats and obviously aren't taxed: Paid dates, sugardadding, various forms of prostitution, explicitly and implicitly sexual streaming, living off provider husband, divorce settlements, alimony, child support (partly), various quotas and dotations.
[β]Abusedhusband1236 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Actually according to studies, the entire gender wage gap disappears and even reversed once you control for only one factor: job choice.
Men tend to go for dangerous undesirable jobs like coal mining and garbage collecting that pays a high wage in the west, whereas women go for comfy jobs that everyone wants like receptionist which pays peanuts.
And guess what the irony is? I got the above from inceltears of all places, when I was pretending to be a feminist and some of the neckbeard incel hating incels in denial there wanted to disprove the gender wage gap LMAO.
[β]BellyHunter5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I believe the gender wage gap is mostly for career choices. Here's a quick and insightful video to understand everything.
Also salary differences for the same job do exist. It concerns higher paid jobs like engineering, actors or athletes. Profitability is the main reason for these discrepancies.
In lower paid jobs there aren't as much wage gaps because there isn't much that can be done to elevate the pay compared to higher paid jobs except working more hours.
Now guess what? Most higher paid industry are male dominated. Women deliberately choose to work in childcare and nursing.
[β]Mort11861 point2 points3 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
It is a multi varied study and they concluded that it has nothing to with the fact they have a vagina. The points you mentioned are correct, but there are many more.
Strange part is I have not come across any feminist arguing those merits, they usually isolate their argument to one or two cases, like the amount of executives dominating the top ipo's are men, but there is valid reason behind that, like some of the points you mentioned and what they dont know and what I worked in was scrutinizing executive applications for board positions. Employees, The execs, the supervisory , shareholders & global governance advocates that an application for position on the board should take into account many factors before they would even consider it, there are some general governing principles, like age, experience, qualifications , other board seats, gender (but it is not a deal breaker, but rather taking into consideration as woman might be able to bring something new to the table) skills and number of years on the board.
There are some parts of the world, like France that legislated female gender quotas on boards and alot of other countries are following suit. I personally think that to legislate it and make it a hard and fast is completely ridiculous, governance practices had nuanced approach to the issue which in my view is much better and fair, as apposed to legislation which i think is a form of totalitarianism.

Probably the wrong subreddit to state this, but here I go anyway. People don't realise how long shit takes. The only thing you can tell from the gender pay gap is that there are proportionally less women in high paying jobs and disproportionately high numbers of women in low paying jobs. What the feminists don't (want to) realise is that this won't change soon, not next year, probably not in the next decades, shit takes time, equal numbers of men and women in all jobs will probably never be reached, not that that's necessarily bad. The funny thing is, if they weren't so dead set on reaching their goals by the end of the week, they wouldn't be driving people away from their cause, but no, they can't wait, they have no patience and in the process they're splitting society.
[β]pawuloni0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wish it could go back to when women werenβt in the work force and could focus on building a good family life . I think this generation can see that itβs a valid job as most of us have experienced broken marriages , being dumped at daycares and a evermore fractured family unit . I donβt get why a lot of women find it offensive to suggest this , maintaining a good family life is a hard and valid job . Me and my other half would love for his wage to cover both of us but since women joined the workforce thereβs no way the average guy can earn that money to support a small family and he works incredibly hard but there are limits to what employers are willing to pay :( so Iβll keep working and maybe one day weβll have enough for a baby . What lots of people fail to see is , they didnβt introduce half the population into the workforce and then find them jobs and pay them what the men were earning . They just over time had to gradually split it.

82% of money spent is spent by women. This is why all the tv shows are catered towards them. The companies paying for the commercials are buttering up their targets.
THIS is the overwhelmingly most important money gap. Men, don't spend money on women and don't give them access to your money. Until this gap is closed, all media and laws will be biased towards women.

Every woman who has the same experience and education and work ethic will make the same money as a man doing the same job. The so-called gender wage gap is simply averaging the income of all people. This isn't fair because some jobs (predominantly held by men) pay more.
So do men make more money? Yes. Why is this?
Men work harder jobs than women, and hard jobs pay more than easy jobs (doctor, ceo, salesman, coal miner, etc make more $ than waitress, secretary, phone answerer, etc.).
Men work more hours, and more odd hours (more pay for weekends and nights, OT for extra hours)
Men take less vacation and less sick leave and call out less
More men participate in the labor force, so some women have zero earned income due to not working, and this is averaged in.
Men are less likely to leave gaps in their resume. (I.E. they don't take gap years, or take a year off to travel the world or whatever).
While men have fewer degrees, their degrees are actually in fields that are pertinent to a job. If you major in women's studies and I major in engineering, I'll make more money then you, while you make lattes at starbucks and claim the patriarchy is oppressing you.
[β]NathanHollister2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
