LOL. Very few atheists ever read the Bible "from First to Last Page" (sic). ...Let alone understand it.
If more men actually read it and understood it, there'd be fewer atheists and women would no longer ruin men's lives.
Just think: false accusers actually punished, no cheating wives divorcing their husbands for cash and prizes, no more degenerate "slut walks", an end to wives' withholding sex to manipulate or punish their husbands... The list is endless.
I think the bible allows women to be whores, because it always forgives and turns the other cheek. " He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. "
Yeah, that's the quote that sexually immoral women and their apologists always use, while they ignore the rest of the Bible. If read in context, Jesus was just upholding the Law in a kangaroo court.
No you are the one that must say where does he say he was just trying to fight kangaroo courts and trial without evidence, which is total bullshit, and came from your imagination.
Did you even read what I wrote? Or the passage itself?
The Jews who approached Jesus hated Him and wanted to have some way of discrediting Him or accusing Him.
They were trying to set Him up: read the passage.
The scribes and Pharisees, however, brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before them and said, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such a woman. So what do You say?”
They said this to test Him, in order to have a basis for accusing Him.
(John 8:3-6)
The province of Judea in Jesus' time was ruled by Rome, and the Romans reserved the right to execute criminals. The Jews were not permitted to execute anybody --- this is why they ultimately had to pressure the Roman governor to crucify Jesus. Had they done so themselves, they would have been put to death.
Under Roman law, adultery was not a capital crime. The Law God gave to Israel, on the other hand, demands the death penalty for adultery: here it is.
“If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then both of them shall die—the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall put away the evil from Israel."(Deuteronomy 22:22)
The Jews who approached Him had found a woman whom they'd caught in the act of adultery, and they wanted to entrap Jesus between the Law of God and the Law of Rome.
Jesus said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" because the Law itself demanded that the witnesses cast the first stone. ...And the witnesses had sinned by "showing partiality in judgement" as the Law puts it --- the Law demanded that both the woman and the man with whom she committed adultery be stoned. In their haste to entrap Jesus, they had not observed the Law: they'd set up a kangaroo court with Jesus as judge, and He was going to have no part of it, since it was a trap.
The accusers knew He'd checkmated them, and one by one, they all dispersed, leaving Jesus alone with the woman. With no case to answer, He could not then condemn her, regardless of whether she was guilty of the crime or not. ...Hence His words to the woman. If He had condemned her, then He Himself would have been breaking the Law, since it stipulated that two witnesses were required to condemn anyone for a capital crime.
And, despite your false claim, Jesus did not "say to forgive her". In fact, His last words to her were not "your sins are forgiven", but were instead a rebuke: "Go, and sin no more."
You don't know any of this of course, because you've never read the Bible and have no idea whatsoever about the historical context in which it was written.
But hey, why bother with history or facts, when you can just take cheap shots at Christianity out of ignorance?
Thanks dude. I didnt know. I thought he just whiteknighted for her. And at the time this story was told to me, i was a boy. So all the idea i got and pretty much everyone there, was the one i told you.
You're not the only one: this is unfortunately the norm, and so most people view Jesus as a white knight in a nightie. It's the fault of modern, feminised so-called "Christianity", and it is one of the reasons why fewer and fewer men bother with church these days.
I myself do not go to church anymore. The churches do not preach the whole Bible, but cherry-pick parts out of it, usually so as not to offend females.
The Bible is a strongly patriarchal book, which is why feminists hate it --- feminists have always hated it. Unfortunately, modern "Christians" themselves have been brainwashed by the society to believe that women are men's equals and should be given equal rights, etc.. There is not a verse anywhere in Scripture which says this. ...Quite the opposite, in fact.
Which to be honest at the time seemed the right thing to do, because i didnt want anybody stoned, none of us wanted that.
I was the same when I was young. And when I first read --- for example --- the second half of Deuteronomy 22, I thought to myself, "Oh no! This is terrible!"
...But killing wicked people was something which God commanded, in order to "purge the evil" from society. Scripture warns that failing to execute murderers and murderesses, adulterers and adulteresses, and so forth, will result in an even more wicked, degenerate society.
Your explanation makes sense rationally. But not in a religious way. Jesus as the son of God, would not need to use deception, as it seems he used according to your description, to escape death or the judgement of the Romans, especially because he himself knew and let the romans crucify him.
He didn't use deception: as I say, the text simply shows that He upheld the Law. He could do no more, no less.
As for His escaping death, Jesus did so on a number of occasions. He escaped death in John 7, for example (the chapter just before the passage we're discussing), where we are told that the crowd who wanted to kill him could not, because "His time had not yet come".
This is because Jesus had to fulfil certain specific prophecies about the Messiah which were written in the Old Testament, which meant that He had to die on a certain day at a certain time, in a certain manner (namely in Jerusalem, on the afternoon of Passover, via crucifixion). And so He had to stay alive until that exact day and time, at which point He had to lay down His life, according to the Scripture.
As the Messiah, He had a specific mission to fulfil, and He had to do it flawlessly. And He did.
That is still a very neutral stance against her behavior. Very passive in my opinion.
There was little else He could say: He knew her sin, and she knew that He knew, but that He could not legally condemn her.
Yet if one looks at what Jesus later says, when He appears to John in Revelation, one sees what Jesus thinks of unrepentant, sexually immoral women.
"But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works."
(Revelation 2:20-23)
Remember, that Jesus is God incarnate --- the very same God who commanded that adulterous women be stoned to death. ...And even commanding the death penalty for women who deceive their husbands by claiming to be virgins when they have already had sex.
God's character does not change. ...And so we see in the Bible that when Jesus returns, it will not be as humanity's Saviour but as humanity's Judge. He will kill and kill and keep killing until the wicked are destroyed from the face of the earth.
Right now, God is giving people the chance to stop doing evil, to repent, and to do what is right instead. But at Jesus' second Advent, that chance will be gone --- time will be up. He will purge the earth with fire and will rule over it with a rod of iron.
And that opens up the whole dillema of christianity that is ambiguous in regards to sinners. Sinners are forgiven so long as they confess.
Confession is not enough.
The important part is repentance, and God insists that the repentance must be genuine --- that it must result in a visibly changed life.
This is a often ignored in the modern church, where, for example, a single mother can "find Jesus" and then go hunting in a church for a chump to marry her, with the blessing of that church. ...But this is serious sin. God says that unless a woman is a widow or a virgin, no man should marry her or have sex with her, since she already belongs to a living man, and should return to him or remain celibate.
Hence why it is so weak and permissive, because in the end everyone is sinning and will sin back again.
But this is a problem with the modern church, and the travesty which passes for "Christianity" these days --- not with the Bible. The Bible is very clear about sin, and how to deal with it. The problem is that people --- churches and professing "Christians" included --- reject what the Bible says.
It sets that precedent, that women can cheat anyways. There isnt even a specific punishment for that in the bible.
Wrong: the Biblical punishment for a woman's adultery is death. God commanded that adulteresses --- and adulterers --- be put to death. It has to be done legally, and with due process, but adultery is a capital crime.
...Furthermore, Jesus taught that if a woman divorces her husband in order to marry another one --- i.e. if she monkey-branches --- then she is an adulteress.
The reality is that were God's Law applied to modern society, it would wipe out most of the women. ...And a lot of the men, too. If 80% of the women are cheating with 20% of the men (as is often claimed here), then only one in four women would survive, and men would outnumber women by roughly four to one.
The problem is that men do not want to follow the Bible because they want to be able to sin themselves. And so they reject God's authority over them, thereby losing their own God-given authority over women. And so society as a whole breaks down.
Dont get me wrong, a lot of things i like about christianity. And i truly think it was almost like a mgtow thing of its era. But history proves it failed men, because women did not respect christianity or christians. Although i think christianity started as a mgtow movement in the middle of the decadent roman empire, they quickly became cucks of the system, eternal masochists and nice guys.
The early Christians were very different from modern so-called "Christians".
And one must always distinguish --- in any age --- between what people who call themselves "Christians" are doing and what the Bible shows Jesus actually said. I cannot --- and do not --- defend what other people do with the Bible. People have misused the Bible in every imaginable way. They were doing it back in Jesus' day (and He rebuked them for it) and they are doing it now.
Christianity is cognitive dissonance mess. And we would never have Islam today, if it wasnt for christianity messing up so bad.
I can't disagree with that. In fact, I've said exactly the same thing many times. Muslims are closer to Biblical Law in their punishment of serious crimes (murder, adultery, etc.) than the formerly Christian countries are.
In the Bible, God frequently punished Israel for failing to execute justice properly, and one of the chief ways He did so was by allowing another nation or people to invade Israel and attack them. ...Which is effectively the pattern we see today. The countries which followed God have turned away from Him and become wicked and degenerate, and so God is allowing them to be punished by Islam --- which deals with murderers, adulterers and the sexual immoral in the way God commands.
It is a grief to me that the churches are so feminised, and that they do not hold women to account for sin. But if they refuse to treat sin seriously, then God will correct the problem Himself. ...And it appears that Islam may be the tool He will use to do so.
