She wrote an editorial complaining about fans hating her character. I think it's because she doesn't have the talent. To take a terrible person and make you feel compassion towards them requires real acting depth that she just doesn't have.

Spoiler warning:

Love this show, but Skylar regularly dragged it down. The only interesting thing her character brought to the show was Walt trying to keep his business a secret from her. It'd be another thing if she either told the police or fully supported him, but all she did was guilt trip him and then turn around to become a scumbag herself.

That's not to justify Walt; the whole point of the show is to demonstrate how the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and at that it exceeds. You kind of take that trip with Walt through shades of gray, traveling from protagonist to antagonist.

The thing is, Walt's sins are first in the name of helping his family, and slowly his ego takes over. Not so with Skylar; pretty much every choice she makes is about herself and woe is me and why are you putting me through this and you should feel terrible -- even when she gets involved in exactly the same stuff. It's just supremely uninteresting and frustrating.

Still love the show and would recommend it to anyone, but Skylar wasn't hated because she's a strong independent woman who don't need no man.... She was hated because she was an uninteresting, self-righteous hypocrite that killed the action of an otherwise excellent show every time she came on screen.

If there is ANYTHING that initially began my disinterest in marriage, it was this. Fucking watching Skyler be a horrible wife to Walt throughout the entire show. One big red pill - I could understand completely why Walt just said fuck it and started cooking meth.

I felt severely uncomfortable when she cheated on Walt. All the shit he had to go through to keep this family a float. Only to be back stabbed. While losing all of his cash.

By far the most powerful scene in all of breaking bad. I had goosebumps all over my body.

Everything in this show would have been a lot more simplistic if Walter had no wife or family. He would have never cooked Meth to make money for his family and he could have died a peaceful stress free death. He could have bought a Dodge Challenger with the extra income he would have from not having a family to support.

I remember binging this show a few years ago during its last season, way before I discovered TRP and MGTOW. Even then, as a bluepilled preteen, I was absolutely repulsed by Skylar and her actions. Through almost the entire show, I was waiting for Walt to divorce her while knowing that his motivations for being a chef would contradict the divorce. And to think that most women nowadays would think Skylar is "okay" is somewhat scary to think.

I know in retro they talk about Skyler White's casting as a purposeful like the character was designed to grate you.

If that was the case, it was a bit too realistic for my liking. To say I not only loathe the character but Anna Gunn would be an understatement.

They could have gone in a totally different direction with her. They could have cast Jennifer Aniston (something like Meet the Millers) and the show would have had some actual sex appeal. Anyone but Anna Gunn.

I don't like her face, she's the epitome of a post wall soccer Mom. Nothing exciting about her. The whole internet pretty much agrees, but that face.

She's the one character that prevents me from rewatching the show relaxing. I give it a go every now and again. And each time I think, maybe I'll see past the "Skyler drama" maybe it wasn't as bad as all that. And then it hits me - "Fuck it was actually way worse". She, and I mean the actress is the Achilles heel of that show. Can you fault her acting? No, not really. She's not bad at her job, it's not even that. It's just "The Skyler drama bits are as painful to watch as pulling teeth" and then there's the rest of that fabulous show.
