I'd bet my house that fewer women are getting married primarily because fewer men, especially the economically attractive ones, are proposing.

Men are rapidly coming to realize that there are no benefits left for them with marriage. Rather than low-effort access to one vagina, they end up with access to no vagina. Rather than providing a stable platform upon which they can raise a family, it places them precariously on a high-wire overlooking an abyss that the wife can cut at any time and for any reason.

Marriage rates are plummeting because men are becoming reluctant to marry. This is a fact that nobody wants to acknowledge because the obvious follow up question would be "why?".

Ok here are the maths 100 men and women, women want men who earn 60% more than the average man. So taking the average as the mean and each of the men earning 1 more than the other then the mean or average man would earn 50. So the 100 women want 60% above 50 which would be men 80-100. This matches the recent online dating data which states women only consider the top 20% of men. So now 100 women are chasing 20 men and conclude that there is a shortage of economically available men. Note if men’s wages doubled the women would still be chasing 20 men because they are chasing status not absolute cash.
