No doubt you at some point came across a person who self-identified as a feminist, yet didn't share the same bullshit outlook on men, discrimination and society. They didn't use terms like "mansplaining", "manspreading", "toxic masculinity", "wage gap", etc., they didn't call for men to be murdered, she didn't lobby or protest to sabotage men getting mental health support, or just to see their own kids once in a while, they just advocate for women's rights where they deem appropriate.

Chances are, these people specifically let you know that they were not a "feminazi", or a "man hater", but they were a "real feminist", and you can actually see that relatively often on social media when feminist do or say some really stupid shit. "that's not *real* feminism." they say.

Well, the problem with that mentality is that you don't define the majority by separating it from the minority, it's the other way around. You can't just claim that the behaviour and ideology of 90% of people who call themselves feminists isn't "real" feminism, because these ideologies are defined by the people who believe in them, and when a paradigm shift or a gradual change occurs (such as when you go from "We want to vote too" to making up shit like the wage-gap), in the worldview of those people, the ideology itself changes.

I'm just so sick of people relentlessly defending the term "feminism" because the groups that actually identify with it are toxic and hateful. No, you're not a "real feminist", you're a women's rights activist, or some other name you could make up because guess what, the real feminism is defined by the buzzwords and actions I described in the first paragraph. Make people see feminists for what they really are.

Sidenote: I also really fucking hate the term "meninist" because it tries to completely invalidate the MR movement by assuming it's just men jumping on the bandwagon and trying to do the same thing feminists are doing, which is obviously false.
