I could argue the same for men.

A spokesman said: "Since we launched our female offender strategy the number entering the criminal justice system has fallen by almost a third.

"We are investing tens of millions into community services like drug rehabilitation and women's centres, and our joint Women's Justice Blueprint in Wales is diverting women away from crime."

Why aren't these resources giving to men and boys? And by tens of millions, where did these money came from, wasn't men the majority of tax payer? So you would use money paid by male citizen and used only on female citizen?

Well if they’re worried about women serving short sentences, they could always give them longer ones!

Given the way things are, I would have thought in most cases some sort of sanction in a “community setting” had already been applied.

Circular reasoning at it's best. Women are given lighter sentences then use that to justify removing all prisons for women.

This is discrimination against women. Women should be responsible for their crimes without a benefit because of their genitals.

I am perfectly sympathetic to the argument that people shouldn't be jailed for low level non violent offences and community treatments would be much better for such offences. But the same sympathy needs to extended for men.

Prisons don't work for any gender. It's a broken system in most countries, but as usual women get the priority. If there's any legislation presented about this it should be for any human and not gender specific.

All the issues involved with imprisoning pointed out in this article apply to men also, so why only focus on women who are imprisoned?

I think it’s simple: To avoid the negative consequences of prison, don’t commit crime.

The dominant form of feminism is intersectional feminism with social constructionism. They think gender is a social construct, and the only reason men and women tend to be different/act different is because of treating them differently.

Based upon this, it will be increasingly difficult for feminists to continue to argue that specific and different treatment for women is appropriate, because treating men and women differently will result in other future gender inequalities.

At present, feminists seem to be getting away with it because they only speak about women, and hope you do not notice and taking women out of prison means men will be treated differently and remain in prison.

SMH. This is like what Russia did in the 1950s with accepting Africans into their nation blindly for labor reasons and than one African migrant was caught raping two native Russian women. Wanna know what ended up happening? The government played politics and claimed the court was being racist and used every hoop and excuse to run through to get that African man out of the charges. Literally had the entire Russian government as his lawyer to get him out of serving any criminal charges and no jail time. I felt bad for the Russian women and any Russian man because they were treated as less by doing this. Russia than later forcefully moved the Africans back to Africa within less than 30 years after due to lack of performance and other reasons but this is literally the same thing that the legal system is doing to men. They are giving us harsher legal punishment and women get away with crime a lot easier. So women get less serious sentences for their crime while men suffer heavier burdens.
