I would like to point out that you were the one who made the claim that women are statistically more likely to be victims of abuse. Thus, you have the burden of proof, not them. While you were provided evidence contrary to your claim, all of this talk about you asking for evidence is beyond the point.
You made an evidentiary claim, and had no data to back up said point. (this of course does not excuse stin00b for being an internet asshole though)

Except the placard would have said, "I argued with my mom", and I'd have been too afraid to wear it since the injuries were real.
In a way I could see how someone could try to win sympathy for men by writing "Over 40% of DV victims are male" on the sign, but even still I don't condone using children for political ends. In addition to leveraging male domestic abuse victims for humor, this reeks of lack of compassion for abused children.

We need to pick our battles. It's the abusive laws and court systems that are the problem, not this.
It's hard to care about a man who's allowing himself to be physically abused by someone physically weaker than him.
Each person has their own battles. Many men on here re fighting for custody. Some are fighting false rape charges. Others are fighting pternity fraud, or unjust accusations. And some men are trapped in an busive relationship. I, fortunately, have none of those. I am lucky to be with a wonderful wife, and have a great life. I am fighting for equality for my son.

Something like this would have been funny in western society back many decades ago in the 50's. Back when wives were more commonly beaten and rape was impossible in marriage because the law said so. Hence the humour being in the incongruity of a man being beaten in a culture of entrenched machismo where women were more commonly beaten.

Many awful situations are the butt of jokes in comedy. Murder, dismemberment, cancer, slavery, rape, racism, dead babies and, yes, domestic violence against both men and women.
Making fun of awful things is a large part of comedy and it's funny as fuck.
