Apply for a job, when they reject you sue for gender discrimination, use the email in court.
Victory.

What company was this? You should file a complaint with the EEOC.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 14 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Seeing as it was Craigslist, I'm not even sure. I don't really want to ask either, god knows I might get accused of harassment or something.
[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sack up, this is illegal. For once the law is on your side. At minimum they should have their ad pulled from CL. Flag it.

Who wants to guarantee this is some bitter feminist?
Release the company info and let's all write to these dipshits (hopefully get this bitch fired). We need to start taking action.

Wisconsin?
[–]roharareddit 1 point2 points3 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is illegal! t shouldn't be hard at all for someone to challenge this.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
welcome to racism in the US, where it's only new if it's happening to a white person
[–]womblefish -1 points0 points1 point 14 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
An chance you could post that email address?..
I'd personally love to waste a little more of their "valuable time"...
(It's a bit hard to cut and paste from an image.)
[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Just type it out dude, it's like 15 characters. You can DO IT!
[–]Celda[M] 6 points7 points8 points 14 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Releasing personal details is a bannable offence.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 14 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Do craigslist emails count as personal details? They're anonymous and a new one is generated for each ad.
[–]luciansolaris 1 point2 points3 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
release the text after the @ man
like *****@company.net
I'd like to know who to boycott.
[–]Celda 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
The anonymized craigslist email is already in the screenshot. Womblefish wanted the actual email, which is not allowed.
Edit: I may have misinterpreted Womblefish's comment.
[–]ringobaggins 2 points3 points4 points 14 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Reading his comment seems to suggest that he wants the craigslist email. He said "that email address?" and mentions its hard to cut and paste from an image. I think he's just being lazy.
[–]Celda 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yea, I now see I misread him.
[–]emptyhunter 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Car Salesman.
Calling someone a "lowlife."
Does not compute.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 14 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link
I didn't really find it offensive. It seemed to read like they were trying to encourage more women to try out for a job men typically are interested in. I've seen far worse wording on CL.
[–]TracyMorganFreeman 4 points5 points6 points 14 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It's not a man's world anymore. If you don't like it, fuck off and move on low life.

You take two sentences and paste them together. It's not accurate.
[–]mtux96 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That is an accurate portrayal of sexism. It'd be the same if someone claimed it was a man's world.
Her response merely confirms her sexist attitude.

Also as a person who hires I would also be annoyed by your e-mail. If there are a lot of applicants you've filled their inbox with a message that was a waste of time and space.
[–]IllThinkOfOneLater 3 points4 points5 points 14 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
As a person who is looking for a job I would be annoyed by your listing. There are a lot of applicants searching for a job who would consider this discriminatory listing a waste of time and space.
[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 14 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So then report it and move on with your life. It may seem offensive because you're a man but there are a lot of things you as a job seeker are excluded from so find the outrage in those, as well.
I would love if more men applied to jobs in my field, I just have the sense to know that posting it is wrong. She didn't realize it obviously by the encouraging way she tried to draw some females into the position. She could have been a lot more offensive. I just don't see it as being worth so much outrage. We have bigger fish to fry.
[–]IllThinkOfOneLater 2 points3 points4 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would be annoyed
[–]cuteman 1 point2 points3 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In my experience, someone in charge of hiring should be the last person to tell a prospective applicant or anybody to fuck off.
[+][deleted] -14 points-13 points-12 points 14 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Fuck you for downvoting me for saying that. People who waste my time piss me off. If you had to hire you'd understand the aggravation.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 14 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I'm in the business of hiring people. I would never post an ad actively encouraging anyone of any particular sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, or age, because that is patently illegal and I would lose my job. A plus is that I don't get emails complaining about discrimination and threatening to sue, so I don't get much aggravation.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 14 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
She's clearly not informed in that regard. Regardless she has a job to do and sending unwanted e-mails will clog up her inbox and waste her time.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ignorance of the law is not a defense.
[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This isn't a trial.

First time on the subreddit, and it will be my last. Just ignore this baised little community and move on.
I feel the downvotes raining in.
[–]picopallasi 1 point2 points3 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ok then. Thank you for your time.
[–]ucofresh 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Wow.. What a classy and professional response from her. What a bitch. I wasn't expecting that at all
[–]DarthOvious 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I didn't really mind the advert as such. I wouldn't mind an advert encouraging men to apply for nursing positions for instance. As long as it was done gently, without showing any discrimination.
However, the reply given in the e-mail was unacceptable and very unprofessional. I would report it if possible and hope that the person who sent it gets the sack.
[–]themountaingoat -1 points0 points1 point 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I really don't think this needs to be here. It is one sexist asshole on the internet.
[–]picopallasi -3 points-2 points-1 points 14 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I'm not seeing an enormous problem with the original posting. The most I'd probably do is scoff at it and move on.
[–]picopallasi 1 point2 points3 points 14 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Downvoted for putting in my $.02. Way to keep it rational, fellas.
[–]glassuser 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right? From my reading it, it's just encouraging females to apply in addition to males.
[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You are actually literally a moron inside your head if you are in any way offended by this.
[–]emmanate -5 points-4 points-3 points 14 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
What is wrong with this? It is possibly over-supporting of females, but nothing more. It seems that someone wrote an overly supportive ad for female employees. In no way did it state that male employees were not to be accepted.
Then you responded with hate-mail .. why exactly? Possibly I am reading the formatting all wrong, but it appears you email the employee the strongly worded response, at which point the original poster responded with kindness. Was their additional email exchanges?
Either way, this level of rudeness seems way over the top.
Also, to the inevitable downvoters, could you post why you downvoted?
[–]codeki 3 points4 points5 points 14 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You read it wrong. The bottom part is the OP's original email.
The top part is the ad. The bottom part being polite and saying "Your post is offensive" is the OP. The "Fuck you, you wasted my time" was the place who posted the ad.
[–]emmanate 0 points1 point2 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Wow, alright. So this is just a rude email reply to the redditor's well-worded concerns.
Thanks
[–]Airazz -3 points-2 points-1 points 14 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What's the point in emailing them if you're not applying for a job? Lets be fair here, some jobs are for guys and some are for girls. It's silly to shout "Sexism!" if there are no women fixing cars in a local garage. Similarly, it's silly to shout "Sexism!" if there are no men selling those cars. As you may have noticed, it's usually the men who buy new cars. Obviously, a sexy sales girl will get better sales than a random chubby dude. I don't see what are you freaking out about.
