I'm no history major, but a quick Google search found 50 million men(18-45 years old) had registered and only 10 million were inducted into service throughout the war. They only had to serve a minimum of one year, I believe. A nationwide poll was also conducted in favor of a selective service draft. So it wasn't as big an issue as, let's say, Vietnam.

It sure is Lord_ThunderCunt! But also keep in mind that of that 10 million maybe 50% were sent to combat arms units while the other half were probably put in support type units. Infantry becomes ineffective quickly without support.
Also 10 million draftees is nothing compared to the amount of Russian conscription. I read somewhere that 80% of all Russian males died in ww2.

I agree, but claiming the draft in USA leaves them with no choice is irresponsible. In Russia they literally had no choice. It was either be killed by your own countrymen by refusing the conscription or be killed by the advance of the Nazis.

It is. I'm going to be honest. I don't think it is solely a men's issue now. 1) Women are now allowed to serve in combat arms. 2) Aren't they proposing or already have passed a bill requiring military age females register for Selective Service? 3) My mother FREAKED when I told her I signed a contract with the army. My military service didn't just affect my life, but also my mother's.

At least 350,000 women volunteered for military service for WWII, just in the US. They were universally given non-combat roles.

Strangely the one area where woman had been deployed was significantly in front of them in occupied france. The SOE didn't wait for D-Day.

This is stupid and makes men's rights look bad. For one the women's march was a varied group some with different goals but the goal to promote equality for women, that is nothing to look down on as I hope in the future both men and women will be equal in the future. Second, women played their part as well in non-combat roles as nurses, as factory workers making uniforms and guns, they raised their families without their husbands, bought war bonds etc. Many did not die in the combat positions but this and many of the comments on here certainly belittle what many women did for the war effort.

Hahaha I'm not quantifying it as one greater than the other in my original post you boob. To me this image is completely disregarding the work of women toward winning the war and belittling the work toward equality that the women's march tried to put in the spotlight that people of both genders should support. How does belittling the efforts of women make anyone more sympathetic to the men's rights cause? And I'll quantify it for you no, I don't think being shot on the battlefield is worse than working in a factory that's just common fucking sense. However women were being shot at in the war coming off boats like these, just in non-combat roles "Early in the morning of 8 November 1942, sixty nurses attached to the 48th Surgical Hospital climbed over the side of a ship off the coast of North Africa and down an iron ladder into small assault boats. Each boat carried 5 nurses, 3 medical officers, and 20 enlisted me ...
