It's interesting that so many feminists beleive women are strong, capable and independent, yet somehow completely powerless against men at the same time.

They play victim because being the "victim" means:

1) Frees you from personal responsibility for your actions or problems.

2) Gives you the moral authority to take vengenace on your alleged oppressor.

3) Grants you access to special rights and compensations.

I think it's used similar to "victim playing"

It's a way to psychologically control people and is a used for a "variety of reasons such to justify abuse of others, to manipulate others, a coping strategy or attention seeking"

Aside from the many great points others have made here about there being many manipulative/psychological advantages to playing the victim, it's extremely hypocritical for feminists to do this. It completely goes against their claims of being equal, strong, and independent. They talk about not wanting to be caught in a female gender role, yet they embrace this whole "poor me, please protect me" mentality.

It's just dramatics. Point out that it's dramatics, keep cool, and enjoy looking like how men are supposed to look (calm, in control, collected). That's how you break down gender stereotypes; defy them. Not being a victim is a good place to start.

I must subscribe to this feminist subreddit, to ensure I get an equal dose of men vs women in the everlasting struggle for 'equality'.

I like men; I think they make better friends due to being more honest, more relaxed, and more into video games than most of the female population. They also make me feel safe if we're out in a group. Having said that, I dislike being hit on, and would strongly prefer not to be raped. Any fear associated with this is due to the general size difference between the two genders - a guy has a higher chance of being stronger than me, than a girl does.

Feminism is "a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women" (THANKS WIKIPEDIA). Unfortunately, like racism, religion, socioeconomic status and various other words, this can often be interpreted differently....or dare I say it, incorrectly.

What you are saying is that everyone that responded, on a feminist subreddit, disagreed with you. If I said women get gas-lighted more often than men (as has been my personal experience), the MensRights subreddit would probably throw a tanty too.

No, you should not feel like a victim, but yes, you should be aware of the dangers of life in general, which includes men who are abusive (sexually, emotionally, physically, whatever). The feminist subreddit doesn't know you personally; you shouldn't take their responses to heart. n__n

TL;DR: Both genders tend to over-generalise; don't take it personally.

If you're not terrified of all men, great! That's awesome and it will make your life much easier.

However, your comfort with the opposite gender doesn't mean that you get to invalidate other's discomfort. Your subjective experiences and beliefs shouldn't be imposed as a standard on others. That girl feels the way that she feels, and because you're not her, you can't ever truly understand or critique that. Don't tell other people how they should feel about things; it's no one's place to judge.
