She was arguing that given the existence of a "universal rule" that women and children should be saved first in cases of shipwreck, the observance of that rule on the Titanic didn't invalidate her opinion that the age of chivalry was dead. Which she may or may not have been right about, but she wasn't saying that men should give their lives to save women, as people here seem to think.

Incidentally a paragraph has been removed from between the two shown on the left of the image, which read thus:

even though the reasoning here is off, it's an evolutionarily sound idea for a society to place more priority on the survival of women because pregnancy is the bottleneck in biological repopulation.

I'm not an anthropologist and maybe one of you can help me out with this, but is there any culture on the planet in which men don't do more high-risk-jobs?

To be fair, the idea of "women first" as a universal rule might have made sense to them because it was culturally understood and accepted that women were weaker than men as a whole and the only ones who could give birth. So while it seems funny to laugh at the entitlement, it makes sense that they would have believed this to not be related to "feminism" at the time.
