Is incel (and biggot) the only word they can use the deffend themselves?

[–]Buchwild 66 points67 points68 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

When people debate and they cannot defend a particular point it's easier to attack your opponent.

[–]InureOfficial 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The term for this is ad hominem and is a tactic of individuals who don’t have a point to press within their argument/debate. Just attack someone’s character and all the others around you who disagree with their original point will flock to you giving you pats on the back lmao.

[–]isthebuffetopenyet 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Bigot is a standard response, just ask them to define what Bigot means and how what you said is bigoted against that specific definition. They won't and they usually can't.

[–]Girl_Dukat_ 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Words mean things. Infiltrating and corrupting language, I.e. inversion, is how this all works.

A bigot is a person who refuses to entertain an argument even if it might be valid. “Entertain” doesn’t mean agree, just to listen and consider. But to These People, a bigot is anyone who disagrees in the slightest. They don’t know what bigotry really means.

I bet they also peruse posts for outrage fodder…”peruse” is a term in the Legal Profession and it means to give a thorough and careful review of all information and terms of contract, sentencing, etc.

They love to decimate people in comments I suppose, as well. “Decimate” does not mean utter destruction. It means “to reduce by one-tenth” which is the approximate percentage of killing, plundering, etc. that would cause enough damage to the morale and supplies of a given group that victory could be won with ease.

Snark =/= intelligence

[–]xsplizzle 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

actually to decimate was a punishment given to roman legions due to past performance, ten men would pull stones, the person who pulled the black stone would be beaten by the others, the prefix deca means ten

[–]MeanCare6744 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I swear they're just making words up at this point.

[–]Valuable_Passion4938 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No actually they can always call you a rapist or misogynist or something

[–]plainwalk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You mean 'incel?' It means both, to them.

[–]plainwalk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You mean 'incel?' It means both, to them.

[–]UpbeatInsurance5358 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, not really. It seems to be a part of the generalised atmosphere, but it's definitely not all it means surely?

[–]ElfmanLV 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No sometimes they call you racist Nazis and misogynist.

[–]DanteLivra 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes.

[–]pete7201 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Throw in racist too and then sure

[–]PopLopsided843 97 points98 points99 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Lol they completely misinterpreted what you said

[–]ZenSanchez119[S] 74 points75 points76 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He wasn’t even looking to counter my argument lol 😭😭😩

[–]PopLopsided843 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It sorta makes sense if he thought you were talking about yourself but idk how someone would het that from what you said lol

[–]Buchwild 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It doesn't sound like she was even replying to you directly, 🤔

[–]ZenSanchez119[S] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He/she was replying me to alright, here’s the link

[–]Drippinice 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

sadly, most people are this dumb. I agree with what you said but I would've put it a little differently for their simple minds

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points36 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

-who hurt you?

-you're an incel

Aaaalways one of those 2.

[–]ZangryGrapes 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

whenever people use this insult, it means that you won the argument but they are too pussy to admit they are wrong

[–]Beltox2pointO -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Rarely does this response mean this.

[–]Bone-Juice 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Ad hominem means exactly that.

[–]Beltox2pointO -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It really doesn't dude.

Sometimes you just say some honest to dumb as a brick stuff, and people are unable to form an argument against nonsense. Want examples, - anti vaxxers and flat earthers. You can show the science and make well rounded arguments. Bit they won't listen. So call them a fucking idiot and move on with life. That's not losing an argument.

[–]Bone-Juice 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So call them a fucking idiot and move on with life. That's not losing an argument.

If that is your best argument against, well anything really, then yes you have lost the argument regardless if you were factually correct or not.

[–]Beltox2pointO -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Can you win an argument with a flat earther, yes or no?

[–]Bone-Juice 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That is not a yes or no question and you refusing to admit that you are wrong here is really speaking volumes.

[–]Beltox2pointO -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's always a no.

People that believe the earth is flat, have already rejected the empirical data to reach their position. You can't win against a mental block like that.

Your inability to see what the question was intended to expose is what speaks volumes here.

[–]Bone-Juice 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's always a no.

You have already decided the outcome, it's sad to see someone give up in defeat so easily.

[–]Andynnos 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Idiots will be idiots no matter how much we will advance and learn about human behavior and psychology.

[–]charcoalblueaviator 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As someone pointed out before incel is the new buzzword to immaculate a man verbally.

Its the new "sissy".

Its used because it ends arguments in label which then devolve around the application of the label and its validity onto the user. People seem to live in this black and whit world where they have this notion of right and wrong no matter what. Failing to understand the nuances of the situation. Falling out of this boundary of logic and you get a label that bar all of your opinion as invalid.

[–]theOverword 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Bruh they didnt even have any arguments to support themselfs, so they went with incel

[–]az226 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ad hominem. That’s how you know they have nothing left

''Invonlutary'' Celbiat is an incredibly humiliating thing to be called as a man implying we haev no control over our sexulaity and that we are required to have sex to deserve respect.

[–]MarquisdeSeda 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah it’s pretty insulting but it’s overused so much it’s lost it’s meaning.

[–]GanryuZT 43 points44 points45 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is like prime example of how women argue.

[–]Good_Stuff11 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Also men too unfortunately, this couldve been a prime example of a simp who has nothing going for him so his only personality is cooming to women and simping for them too trying to be a nice guy by calling other guys incels. It’s the “I’m different than all those other incels, trust me queen” type of personality

[–]xsplizzle 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yep, super common also, if not the most common online

[–]OneWithItAll8 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

With name-calling? Only shitty people argue with insults. Men and women.

[–]GanryuZT 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, by attacking the person instead of the argument. Bill Burr explain it better here.

[–]ElfmanLV 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes and typically women go for insults rather than logic because they're arguing emotionally most the time.

[–]auMatech 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Disregarded what you said and made up a fictitious moral high ground by bashing you as an incel.

[–]scaredofshaka 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If he calls you "bro" and tells you to work on yourself, he's likely a dude spraying his wokeness. Putting you down is the same as propping himself up - typical ally behaviour

[–]Subject_Chemical9841 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point you raised. If a handsome person (those boyish types from bands is a good example) approaches someone they are going to brag. But yeah, feminism...

[–]King_Kingly 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut and let people be stupid.

[–]Flashy_Glove6208 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly this.

Don't argue, go your own way and keep your thoughts to yourself.

[–]ZenSanchez119[S] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Update:

He didn’t call me an incel just said I sounded like one 😩

Simone Biles is proud 🥲

https://imgur.com/a/WIz4GZG

[–]ElfmanLV 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What world do we live in where saying obvious truths like good looking men set better first impressions is incel behaviour? Lmao

[–]MrElderwood 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just because something is free - in this case 'advice' - doesn't mean it has intrinsic worth!

[–]MrElderwood 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow!

Whether intentionally or unintentionally, someone got the wrong end of your stick!

Lots of work to do eh? Hearts and minds etc!

[–]godimissthePNW 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The funny part is the people who use that word are not at all getting laid in real life…

[–]BuddhasRoadTrip 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Femcels immediately default to 'incel' when they're being owned.

Just remind them that their entire sexual history involves the produce department at the local grocery.

[–]kvakerok 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being handsome doesn't matter? What a load of crap. As an attractive guy I totally got a pass on sooo many things that would totally not fly otherwise. It's life on easy mode.

[–]dtyler86 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your argument is 100% correct. There’s a phrase I cant remember, but it’s basically “a man is only creepy if they’re not attracted to him”. This is a law of human nature. It’s the same reason people associate attractive women as being assholes. It’s actually the perceiving party that is the asshole in that people don’t remember as clearly when an unattractive person is rude, but instead they value the opinion of attractive people more, thus a clearer memory of the times a pretty women was rude to them.

It’s truly in the eye of the beholder. No one would listen to a business pitch from a guy in a t shirt with holes in it. That’s a great analogy.

[–]Fact_Trumps_Feeling 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

[–]WolfGuy801 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just tell them that using that term is racist, and that they're being a white supremecist to even suggest such a thing. They literally won't have an argument back. Then before you turn and walk away just tell them "thanks for feeding the patriarchy". Act like it was time for the mic drop, and just walk away. They LOVE to use the "projecting" & don't themselves, have any defense for it. Just be quick to recognize it and spin it around on their dumb asses.

[–]jhdoesstuff 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I disagree with you therefore you're an incel

[–]LAdude71 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is why you don't talk about 'fight club' so to speak.

You can't reason with fools. They will never see the logical point.

[–]MarquisdeSeda 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Incel is thrown around at will. Eventually their name calling will have as much meaning as their misdirected anger (let’s just call it that).

[–]Chacky99 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Women always use this as a insult. They know that their bodies are their only worth and fear if men don’t want em anymore

[–]ElfmanLV 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The first comeback women make wh n being called a slut is calling men virgins, and they never see the irony.

[–]Chacky99 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True

[–]TheCalmVoid 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

This doesn't only apply to women, but yes

[–]Chacky99 -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It absolutely does

[–]TheCalmVoid 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How hard is it to comprehend that it's "attractive" people vs "ugly" people, rather than men vs women?

[–]Chacky99 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Its both

[–]TheCalmVoid 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough

[–]badbadbadbadbadbad6 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

r/malaysia 🤮

[–]Comprehensive-Ice631 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m at the point where I’m starting to feel an immense sense of pride for basically being an incel. I think we should take the word and make it something desirable.

[–]John_doe_97 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You and the polar person are both right, while harassment is still harassment no matter who is doing it, how people view the situation can be affected by how attractive someone is, might not always matter but it can sometimes be a factor in how they respond.

[–]silent_thunder1618 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nothing like a personal attack to assert the lack of an argument, sometimes I think those posts about micro violence it's the feminist debate manual

[–]Singleservingfriendx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Anyone ever read Frankenstein? The sensitive and righteously indignant “Fein” will definitely be regraded as an incel by today’s extremist “liberal” or “feminist”.

[–]Phantombiceps 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You should be ok with them calling you an incel because that just means the laws of physics still work today- as they already sounded like childish idiots from sentence number 1. . It would be much more disturbing if they suddenly broke off into some intelligent and insightful interlocution.

[–]Beltox2pointO -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Look. They said, you sound like an incel.

This is an attempt at making you see where the logic of your statement leads to.

"It's only harassment if you're ugly" 100% is an incel type mind set.

It doesn't even matter if true or empirically provable. The mentality surrounding it does nothing to add to the discussion of harassment or help people understand it.

[–]Flowman 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is that what is and what is not harassment is often completely dependent upon that person's perception of you.

For instance, my best friend can greet me with "Hey fucker" and because of who he is, I have no problem with it. But if a stranger approaches me with the same exact words and tone I'm going to perceive it completely differently.

The same principle applies. This isn't incel-like thought. This is just understanding of context.

[–]Beltox2pointO 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

This is just understanding of context.

And in this context, attractiveness is being used. Which is entirely subjective. So in this context, using attractiveness it is an incel mindset to have.

[–]Flowman 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Attractiveness, on a population level, is definitely not subjective. Sure, you think Jennifer Lopez is more attractive than Angelina Jolie, that's a matter of preference but near universally these women are viewed as attractive. Same with Chris Hemsworth or Jason Momoa. Certain traits are considered attractive across the board and the exceptions of preference aren't valid counter arguments.

Point being - certain behaviors are acceptable based on the context of the situation and who is behaving that way. A woman who finds a man attractive is more likely to be receptive to his flirtations even if she isn't particularly inviting him to engage with her. A man she has little or no attractions to is going to be viewed in a far worse light. Attractive people more often get the benefit of the doubt whenever there's any kind of social faux pas. That you reduce this concept to being in the thought patterns of an incel is just an attempt to avoid actually having the discussion because you're intellectually lazy.

[–]Beltox2pointO 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Harassment occurs between two individuals (or in groups) not "on a population level" and even then, is still subjective. Lopez in Brazil would probably be rated higher than Scar Jo, then America the opposite... Just because you can achieve a relative scale across millions of people doesn't make something not subjective.

I have already stated that regardless if this happens or not. The MINDSET that it's the reason for harassment is 100% an incel mind set to have.

There's no discussion to be had, this is one of those non-truth "known truths" No shit if she think you're ugly she won't be open to flirtation, that's how it works. So instead, don't be weird as fuck and say that if you weren't ugly the behaviour would be acceptable. Because you aren't and it's not.

[–]Flowman 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The MINDSET that it's the reason for harassment is 100% an incel mind set to have.

Nonsense. You act as if attractiveness bias isn't a thing. Now it doesn't mean that it's impossible for a woman to consider a man harassing her if she finds the guy attractive, which has never been the argument people make. The argument, in context, is that the relatively average/unattractive guy is going to get accused of harassment for doing relatively benign things such as flirting with a woman whereas the attractive guy is going to typically get the benefit of the doubt if things go wrong.

No one is seriously arguing that attractive men just get to do whatever they want to women and it'll never be considered harassing or abusive.

[–]Beltox2pointO 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I never said it's not a thing.

But, does it matter, at all.

If you're ugly you probably know. If you aren't autistic you will also probably realise the effect you're having on someone you try to flirt with. If you push through it, it's harassment.

Just because an attractive person doing the same thing would garner a different response. Means absolutely nothing at all.
