Muslim MRA here. I live in the US, and I became an MRA after seeing the need for an active men's rights movement here. I'll tell you that with time and publicity, it shouldn't be too hard to spread the movement to the Muslim community, especially in the American and European Muslim communities.

I don't want to mention my background as its blurry/doesn't-fit-in-onebox, anyways, but after reading materials like Warren Farrell, I realize religions (including Islam) are a system that are misandrist where they are ultimately interested in the preservation of women due to women's critical role in reproduce if a calamity were to strike. They ultimately value men only as far as men's ability to propagate the tribe. They have that archaic view where humanity/the-tribe is only one calamity away from extinction.

Their method of coddling women is disliked by 'modern societies', but bigger picture wise the genders roles aren't that different when you look at what role men are expected to play. Islam gets the bad rep as the 'war-ing religion', but really look at who is at the receiving end of all that violence. Yes by modern standards, women are repressed in countries like afghanistan, but what about the complete disposabilty of of men in those countries.

2 of my best friends are Muslim men and neither have oppressive views towards the women in their lives. Very few Muslims actually are oppressive/violent people. We don't paint all Christians based off the actions of Westboro Baptist Church do we? So don't base your views on Muslims off the tiny few who are nutjobs. The Islam faith is a peaceful and tolerant one, and most Muslims are like that.

There is no reason to mention religion. Either you support rights for Men or you don't. If your religion, or your feminism, or your traditional nostalgia gets in the way you're doing a disservice to us all.

I respect freedom of religion as much as I respect freedom from religion. I have just has much criticism for Islam as I do for any other religion. I have just has much appreciation for the historical role and arguable historical necessity of Islam, and every other religion, as I do hope that people grow out of it.

I've noticed that some American Muslims get accused of sexism just because they wear Burqas or are married to women that wear them.

This is called Ethnocentrism, the short of it is that it's a form of racism where your culture, is the best and only acceptable culture (In your eyes.)

Which, combined with Feminism allows some feminists to be extremely disrespectful to other cultures. In fact, FEMEN received a major backlash for some of their protests in front of Mosques from Muslim women who view it as a proud part of their culture.

Will Muslim men/women come to MRAs for support? Probably not unless we became very vocal about that specific issue. Also I don't quite know if enough MRAs will educate themselves on the topic to the point to which that would be a common occurrence.

TL:DR. It's a form of racism that comes from not respecting the agency of women from that culture (sexism) that feminists are often guilty of.

Muslim doesn't automatically equal Burqa etc.

I live in Glasgow , was here during the terrorist attacks at the airport by muslims , I also watched the muslim/islam communities march to say that the hate was " not in our name" the moderates here stood up and they made the distinction between themselves and those using ideology as an excuse to hate , I have used this as an example many times when confronted by NAFALT , if moderate feminists had half the conviction of these people I may actually be convinced that there is another side to feminisim.

I am a Muslim who is deeply interested in the mens right movement and I have been watching a lot of MRA videos from notable youtubers like Girlwriteswhat and others. The thing that drives me a little nuts is that they, at times, make off handed comments like "Women in Saudi Arabia/Muslim countires are slaves" or something to that order. This is completely off base and these people are going off the stereotypical media portrayal rather than real knowledge. This is a little off putting, but other than that I think Muslims can at the very least relate to media hit job that is done on the MRAs.

I fear religion as much as I fear radical feminism. Fundamentalism in any form is dangerous. But more importantly, supposedly moderate supporters of any position, be it religious, or feminist, just lend credence to extremists unless they vocally and clearly disown their fundamentalist wings...

The danger, I think, in discussing religion is that it opens another avenue to discredit us.

Feminists would love for us to be perceived as a christian or mormon or muslim movement because it would compromise our arguments.

No opinion, and we shouldn't have one. This subreddit is about men's rights. Not about religion. There may be aspects here and there that we discuss, like any other topic, but that is hardly a view on Islam as a whole.

I have a huge problem with child brides and the dancing boys of Afghanistan. All in all that region has some huge problems. I don't hold any resentment and I find most of their culture fascinating. Almost everyone their needs help but I think the children in the situations I mentioned earlier need the most help. Even though I've posted it twice it seems no one cares about the boys being made to dance and then being raped by government officials.

If the Men's Rights movement becomes well-known, will Muslims come to us for support?

I doubt that to, they're an insular community with strict social codes.
