Hey, all! So, got into debate with a male to female Trans gal I was/am friends with. It was about this. She had posted it on her Facebook page. And, because we've usually had good discussions before (I used to be a part of my high school LGBT group), mentioned my view on things to her.

And she promptly kept countering with how horrible her experiences were. No facts, just her own experiences. She was apparently hyper aware of the privileges she's lost since transitioning. Apparently being cat called, or being fact checked, are all reasons why she won't even consider men having their own day. Because every day is international men's day.

My head hurts now. Every argument I made was countered by her own experiences...which, by the way, I've shared most of. In my almost two decades of being female, I've been cat called, raped, bullied and beaten up, was in an abusive relationship that ruined the entirety of my mental health, and been groped by a soldier/police officer in Egypt at the age of eleven back in 2008. So, if I was going to be all MEN SUCK!, I've got 'valid' reasons for it.

That's not...that isn't how an argument works.

Yes. She needs to focus on her own trans rights fights, which I understand and wasn't ever trying to take away her fight. Or discount her experiences.

But....An experience isn't a fact. Feeling unsafe isn't a fact. And society IS NOT MEANT TO MAKE YOU FEEL SAFE. That is, as far as I know, your own responsibility. If you're walking home at three in the morning, then carry pepper spray. Or a knife. Or a gun. Or a cane sword, because cane swords are awesome.

My head hurts, y'all.

Things are hard all over, so instead of acting like one group fighting for their rights is horrible and terrible, why can't we all work together?

But, that would require sanity. And I, as a female, am proud to state that sanity isn't my strong suit.
