Remember, they don't see oppressed men as people. Historically or today. If you look at history as though the vast majority of all men who ever existed didn't exist, that's when their worldview makes sense.

I believe women faced real historical constraints, but I reject inherited guilt and the idea that this was a coordinated oppression by “men” as a class. For most of history, sex roles were shaped by biology, reproduction, and survival—especially before birth control—not ideology.

Men were also oppressed in different ways, particularly through disposability, forced labor, and legal obligations without protection. I reject turning history into a hierarchy of suffering.

We can acknowledge past injustices and address real disparities without scapegoating people today or replacing one form of discrimination with another.

It was really only about 6,000 years. The majority of human history had men and women playing very similar and equally important roles with similar freedoms.

Were some small percentage of women oppressed and abused - of course. I highly doubt the percentage of women actually oppressed and abused has changed much despite all the "progress" in women's rights. That's why women invent things like the emotional load, invisible labor, etc to make it seem like they are being subjected to sort of oppression.

I'm watching game of thrones right now with my wife. It's the part where sansa is forced to have sex with Ramsey while theon (reek) Watches.

She starts in and says it's horrible how badly women suffer and men had it so good.

Im annoyed obviously but i simply say that everyone suffered in the past. (Obviously this is fiction but she's playing her games because she knows i didn't tolerate her new found hate speech)

She says something about how much worse it was for women.

I ask her if she think Theon (gets absolutely mutilated and tortured for months and his D cut off) suffered as much as Sansa. (She's Bent over and r@ped. )

She goes into how women have it worse because men can defend themselves blah blah blah

I told her she is sexist and at the center of that is just anger and hate. There is predator and prey in this world and to try and compare suffering isn't fair or wise.

She gets her last word in and i drop it.

This attitude is not that of the woman i married. Why is it so hard for a woman just to acknowledge that they are not the only victims?

People without previleage were suffered in ancient times. Victims were those who were poor. That's pretty much of it, very simple.

My personal opinion, is that abuse exists in every era. But it doesn't occur in collectives of people. Media portrayals of abuse almost exclusively favor male abusers. There is rarely ever talk about male hardship or male victims.

I think the main form of oppression historically was rich > poor, but women were still below men at any wealth level. Not as far below as feminists might make out, but still below.

I think in general human relations were much more abusive regardless of gender. Violence was part of everyday vocabulary, coercion was the default in all walks of life. Patriarchy was the mode between men and women, if women didn’t have the right to vote, so didn’t most of their men as well. It’s been a long struggle to contain violence, de-traumatize ourselves from the cycle of intergenerational trauma, and there are still plenty of holdouts — Tate, Trump, trad-larpers, but also ultra-feminists and misandrists — who’re kicking and screaming

In certain civilisations, it might’ve been more common, but they were also likely women who would disagree or think of some of the laws as benefiting them, like how there were a smaller portion of women who weren't interested in feminist movements when they first gathered attention.

I look at this claim of “centuries of universal female oppression” with legal and historical realism, not ideological emotion. History was brutal for everyone, men were sent to wars, forced into hazardous labour, died in mines, ships, famines and plagues, carried legal liability for families, taxation, punishment, and state control, while women had different social roles and protections within family and community structures. To simplify this complex human history into a narrative that 50% of humanity continuously abused the other 50% is intellectually dishonest and politically motivated.

Yes, there were injustices against women in certain eras and cultures, just as there were massive systemic brutalities against men that textbooks conveniently ignore. Power was concentrated in small ruling classes, not in “all men.” Ordinary men were never kings, lawmakers or beneficiaries of privilege; they were expendable labor and soldiers. The modern feminist narrative selectively amplifies female suffering while erasing male sacrifice, creating a distorted victim hierarchy that fuels biased laws today.

Justice must be grounded in facts, balance and accountability, not myth-making, because when history is weaponized, it becomes the foundation for legal discrimination against men in the present.

For most of history, life sucked for everyone. Both men and women worked hard each day, men out physically stressful jobs, women at home.

Once more modern jobs became available, men started having more options. Some dreamed big and got to actually enjoy life.

That's when women pointed out that they were still trapped in one role, and they wanted options and freedom too. This received pushback, because lots of men didn't think women would be as good at working. Kinda makes sense that they'd wonder that, seeing as they hadn't known women to do that kind of thing before.

Finally, women were given rights and also had options, but they continued the notion that men were cruel and were actively oppressing them. Ironic, since no one even seems to tell women that they can't do x, y, z, or she won't be a "real woman." Men are way more trapped in the gender box, by society.

Though, admittedly, I find the notion of some secret patriarchy, pretty funny. I picture a bunch of mustache twirling, old dudes, sitting around, discussing new ways to limit women, while laughing maniacally.

women were surely kept under supervision but that was due to invaders and heirarchy of the society. You can still go to many places where women does more work than men and are more active and bold, they act like a provider and also get the money, food and comfort for their children and family while their husband sleep and drink hahaha.

Bro this is wild. Women only got the right to vote in 1920 in the U.S. Hell it was illegal for women to own credit cards in their names until 1974. Yes, women clearly have been oppressed at various points in history.
