Good article, but I would like to see the study done on the so-called "glass ceiling" for short people. He brought up the women's wage gap in discussing that point, which to me calls into question the bias of the study.

The problem with this from my experience and talking to others about women in leadership roles is that often they out men the men, by that I mean they become more aggressive than a male manager, complain unnecessarily and to be honest are quite bitchy. This is by no means all but has happened enough to me and people I know that it stands out as different than the average male manager. Women bring a lot to the party and need to use their differences as a strength in management not try to out do men and therefore manage badly. The women managers that embraced being female managers rather than trying to act as overly male managers have been far more effective, respectable, capable, approachable and nice to work for. I only hope more can follow this line.

As you go up the corporate ladder the height of the men keeps increasing. I guess being male and short they lack the 'redeeming' feature of being a woman in their quest for promotion.

In my own life I take such basic incompatibility with society's respect as a gift of not being indoctrinated so much by society, leaving me with more mental freedom to explore things. It also serves as a filter to help find those rare people who are capable of interacting in a non-compulsive manner, without endless preconceptions based on superficials.

Let's try a counter; anyone ever tried height enhancing shoes? At the very least this will counter some of the problems that high heels create (aka they take them off and you go woah you're short, at least in your head).

I'm 6'4 and pushing 300 lbs and I don't have an astronomical gut on me, most of it is muscle but I'm also not a washboard abs type of guy.

I don't get unwanted sexual attention, people think I'm going to rape them in the alleyways or something. I don't know how I give off that vibe, considering I'm usually making people laugh.

I see more short men than tall men (might be the area I live in, who knows) but I have yet to see short men strike out with women. Maybe my standards are too high but where I live tall guys are usually the ones most feared.

I'm 6'4 and one of my best friends is 5'2-5'3. He is a pretty good looking guy, intelligent at times, great hair, good teeth and takes care of his looks. I once told him God made him short because otherwise he would rule the world.

I've never once heard someone make a disparaging remark about his height though. Although, I am willing to admit most people don't directly insult someone my size or my friends.

Wait ... once there were two club sluts who called him "little". I made a reference to the girth of her mother. He still managed to hook a hot blonde at the end of the night.

Suppose you start from a belief that the patriarchy puts people in the order of: high status men > low status men > women, with the feminine always being lower in status than the masculine, and low status men who fail at fulfilling the male ideal being treated as women.

Then if you're a low status man, for example because of your height, you might come to believe that your lifetime of getting shoved into lockers and picked last for the basketball team gives you more empathy with the female experience than a high status man could possibly have. You might come to believe that you're the one good man. You might end up on a feminist site explaining (or mansplaining) your similarities in life experience.
