There’s no guarantee that it would be anymore effective than the current hormonal contraception that we have. Plus what we have seen regarding side effects from what we already have does not leave me too optimistic. Let’s not forget about what it’s done to our drinking water.

There’s a technology being developed which would be an implant into your scrotum that allows you to shut off your sperm supply manually. How effective would this actually be ? I don’t know. But I think steering clear of hormonal intervention is a good idea.

Government will just mandate male partners support female partners who have a child, regardless if it is due to the man's sperm or that of another man, through the family court. Men are not going to be allowed to have sex for free, without any cost, when there is more job fodder to create to keep the population ponzi going.

There are already countries that refuse to mandate a paternity test if men are concerned about the DNA source of their progeny.

There is a (let's call it experimental, due to only small studies) possibility for reversal MALE contraception. I am using it for one year now.

It's calls "thermal contraception" and suppresses Sperm production. At <1mio/ml this would be Pearl 1 according to WHO. 0.1mio/ml would be Pearl 0.1.

I am at 0.2-0.4mio/ml at the moment.

There is a Silicon ring "Andro-Switch", with a ongoing Study until 2027.

Alternatively, i sewed Jockstraps, more comfortable for me.

I really believe birth control is more effective than it is given credit for and that studies don’t look for infidelity.

One year after getting married, my wife didn’t want to use birth control due to health risks. We decided to just pull out because we wanted to have kids eventually anyways, so pregnancy wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Five years in, no pregnancy. We then decided to ‘try’, and we’re pregnant within a month. They always ask in the hospital what birth control you will use, i responded honestly and the doctor scoffed. Said pulling out is extremely ineffective. One year later, we decided to go for another child, and again pregnant within a month of ‘trying’. Rinse, repeat second doctor did the same thing. Haven’t changed anything and have now been pulling out for 12 years without an oopsie. Around a year ago I read about timing of periods as a form of birth control as well, women are only fertile for middle week of their cycle. Nothing is required the first few days after stopping or the last few days at the end of the end of the month. Been doing that for a year as well. Screwing up for sure could result in pregnancy, but i personally find it easy to maintain 100% error free use.

That being said, all this got me to thinking. Every extremely effective form of birth control relies on the woman to take it, or to do something. Every form that requires action by a man is lower. I really think a study has never been done that required proof of paternity for failed birth control for condoms or pulling out. Just my 2 cents.

I remember in HS, being told about micro tears in condoms getting girls pregnant. That microscopic holes allowed for one or two sperm to get through. I am not saying it is impossible, but another dude being the father seems more likely.

All that to say, the best rule is don’t have sex with a girl you wouldn’t be against getting pregnant. Use a condom or female birth control, and always pull out. Follow those roles and your chances should be nearly 100%, and question anything else. That’s the rule I think both sexes should follow.

As a woman this is one of my biggest wish. Both men and women could be protected, the effectiveness would be higher, unwanted pregnancy would decrease and both genders would take responsibility of their own fertility.

There is a short documentary of men soaking their scrotum in a hot water bath. Which in affect rendered them sterile. Even if a ( pill) was invented it would not be 100%. Hot tubes are very detrimental to sperm count. I'll try to find the documentary.

While the idea for a pill for men makes the way in the hive mind and I'm happy for that.

I'm much more excited for the non-hormonal alternatives for men and women. They are doing in my country (switzerland) a scientific research for the heating underwear (basically a cock ring), to see how much it is effective and to allow to sell those underwears has contraceptives.

So I'd rather take that instead of pills. The hormon effect on women is just not good. Plus I've heard that women under hormones would rather be with "a feminine" man than a "masculine Man" but it's more a "trust me bro".

Honestly, I'd rather see chemical solutions like this disappear entirely. For both genders. Everyone needs to face the consequences of their actions, and this basically removes a fairly major consequence that has shaped our societies.

Having sex comes with responsibility. It used to mean the willingness to become a parent. That used to mean a family unit. Humans are, and have always been better off with strong family units. Birth control has subverted that and turned sex into a social activity more than anything else.

My brothers, if you don't want kids, don't have sex, or get a vasectomy. Same for my sisters out there; either don't have sex or get your tubes tied. Actions need consequence to have meaning.
