Mandatory paternity test is beneficial to everyone, the child gets to have a guarantee on who their father is which is good for them mentally and good for them physically in case there are genetic issue to be worried about, men get to know they are investing in their child with 100 percent certainty, and woman know that the child is indeed theirs and not a baby switched with another on accident. It’s a win for everyone involved.

I’m not sure if maternity tests are necessary, I suppose they an also help prevent babies from being switched but a paternity test should be just as effective unless she cheated.

Overall, I just don’t see a good argument to be against mandatory paternity tests. I suppose some people don’t like the government forcing medical procedures and collecting DNA, but even if hypothetically the government was doing something fishy with the DNA does the pros outweighs the cons? A paternity test is peace of mind for all the family and can save a child and father from long term suffering.

Frankly, I’m in favor of doing a genetic screen for many things when a baby is born not just checking their parental lineage.
