I was dealing with partnership problems, wondering whether I live the cycle of abuse with my wife being psychologically abusive towards me. In the past, we went to couples therapy but the therapist literally said that a man could not be abused by a woman. (My wife later admitted that she has twisted the therapist around her little finger.) Back then I have also asked for advice on r/relationships only to be told to 'man up'.

I was pretty deeply unhappy and hurt, preparing for the end of our marriage. When researching psychological abuse on Wikipedia I have learned that several studies found double standards in how people tend to view emotional abuse by men versus emotional abuse by women. So I got an idea, I will ask for advice on r/relationships but I will switch the genders. I have described our problems as neutrally as I could in order to get useful advice, then I have replaced all [M] with [F] and the other way around. Guess what, according to the good folks of r/relationships my "husband" is abusive a.hole and I should run, not walk away from this marriage.

I showed the post to my wife and she had a revelation moment. She repented and we agreed to find a more experienced therapist. She has been working on her temper and conflict resolution, I am cautious but we are still together providing a family to our children.

The funny thing is, what I did was against the rules of r/relationships and my post would be deleted if the mods find out.
