Firstly, no infant is relegious. If they leave the faith (like I did with Christianity) then I don't want with a anti-sex mutilation on my genitals.

My body my choice.

As for your husband please visit beyondthebris.com for Jewish reasons to keep your childs whole body.

My take is that his religious rights end at another person's body. Your potential son can choose his own religion and choose circumcision if he wishes later in life

Medical surgery requires medical necessity. Culture, tradition, and religion have no place in surgery.

I am not Jewish and I don't really give a crap about disrespecting the Jewish faith. If your faith tells you to mutilate a baby or child of any gender, then it deserves some disrespect.

I don't think it is fair to say that circumcision is equivalent to clitoral removal, but it is on that spectrum.

Having said all this, I am circumcised and I'm not particularly angry about it. The idea that I would have my son circumcised when he was born, however, was unthinkable.

He describes the religious aspects, as well the medicalization of male genital mutilation.

It may not be his religion, but both male and female genital mutilation are practiced in Islam. If he agrees that female genital mutilation is bad, even though it's sanctioned be a religion, maybe he could be convinced that his support for male genital mutilation is the same as a Muslim supporting female genital mutilation.

I'm not gonna use any misplaced and inappropriate feeling-sparing language here: If your husband is jewish and religious and you intend to have a baby, leave him. The end. Even if he is just "fine" with not doing it (which you can't depend on, look at florida woman's case), how can you have a child with someone who doesn't respect that child's right to his own body (more or less the prime right that exists)?

I think that alot of horrible things in the past (and present) have been done with the justification that it is a religious practice.

Suppose you want to mutilate your daughters' genitals. Does he have an opinion on that? Exactly the same principles apply to child genital mutilation regardless of which sex they are.

Edit: Jewishness is transmitted from mother to son. Thus your son will not be Jewish if you are not.

Edit 2: There is evidence in a significant extra number of SIDs deaths in boys who have been circumcised probably because of the trauma.

your way of thinking is right, it is horribly unfair and harmful. please do not get pregnant before u make sure he understands. if he is fine with hurting his sons this badly he is either evil or too brainwashed by society, either way u should divorce him. "muh religion" doesnt make it moral to brutally injure a baby boy.

Actually, its more like removing part of the clitoris. I mean, men can still be stimulated. Its just not as severe because of the hardening the the tip thanks to having no protective sheath and thus basically becoming a giant callous from rubbing on clothing all day.

Every rub your tongue on one and feel how rough it is? Not supposed to be like that.

Anyway. The method of "you might be right but that's offensive to my religion" is a way of claiming injury by words because you hurt their feelings because hurting people's feelings makes a person a terrible person, and that terrible person deserves to be verbally abused, sometimes even physically abused, so they "act properly and don't offend others anymore".

What I have heard that changes people’s mind is take your baby home. You will fall so much in love with it that you won’t want anything to hurt it. Not sure if this will work on a stringent Jew though. Also isn’t the Jewish religion pass on by the females? So it seems dumb cuz he won’t really be Jewish.

While I don't object at all to the idea of Jews choosing to be circumcised, and bringing kids up Jewish, I think they need to decide that for themselves at a later age to have it done. Not have it forced on them as a baby by someone who wants to preform surgery on their genitals without anesthetic.

Your husband might be interested to know that there is a growing movement of Jews who oppose circumcision. And, if you haven't already, I strongly recommend that you watch both The Red Pill and American Circumcision, two excellent documentaries.
