I'm a middle-aged bachelor, I moved to SE Asia about 5 years ago. Never been married, but have had a few long-term relationships.

I notice that, in every country i have visited out here, every woman i meet who is single, 25-55 years old, (and looking for 'love') is also divorced and has at least one child.

There's this cultural expectation that, were I to have a serious relationship with any of these women, (who are lovely, kind, gorgeous, and otherwise outstanding) I will be taking care of them financially, 100%.... as well as their children, parents, and sometiimes the entire extended family....

And then they act bewildered and pussapoo'ed when i say that I'm not interested. . . . As if I'd be enthusiastic about being a mule.

I rather enjoy my freedom ....

As a 27 year old unmarried and childless man, I've noticed. Story about my cousin. When he was in his 20's he got married. Marriage ended after a year or so. His next gf was an overweight single mother with a young son. My cousin basically raised this boy as his own for maybe 5 years. My aunt and uncle treated this boy as one of their grandchildren. Then he made a HUGE mistake. He had a child with this woman. She then broke it off with him (I'm assuming) and made his life hell on earth and dragged him through the court system just so he could see his daughter. Meanwhile she continued to be a nasty woman having all types of random men around his daughter. I don't think she works either. NOW, my cousin's latest gf has 3-4 kids by at least 3 different fathers. It's honestly laughable. No one should be THAT desperate to get laid. It's not worth it. I feel bad for him but only to a degree because he keeps making the same mistake over and over and not learning. I'm just grateful I have a strong example of what NOT to do.

I have seen men and women calling it "responsible". I have had coworkers telling me that If I raise kids, I would be become a real man.

Meanwhile all of them are working 4 hour overtime while I leave work early and enjoy my night.

I usually think of these men as 'losers' because they have grown old, they have more responsibilities, they seem trapped and I pity them a lot.

I would only get into a relationship with a single mother if I was a single dad and both of the other parents of the kids were dead.
If one was still alive it would be a deal breaker.

As a 50 year old childless man. Couldn't be happier. No one to fight over my stuff, happy to associate with whomever I please, whenever I please. I can have a quiet night at home, or go party with friends. It's great.

I don't think that is normal at all and no one is forcing you to start a relationship with a single mother. You can pick and choose the people you want to begin a relationship with. You aren't drafted and assigned a single mother at a certain age.

I was 39 when I met my wife.

In my case, I wasn't even in a position to have much of a relationship before then. I was a physical mess and a near shut-in for many years. Yes, all the tropes you can imagine, that was me. Then I got my act together: Got my own place, lost 168lbs, hit the gym, got a semblance of an actual style in clothes. Capped this off by trying new activities in groups that had absolutely no idea of what the "old me" was.

In the case of this meeting, it was trying out country line dancing. I had no clue what I was doing, but basically stood there doing my usual stoic people-watching thing. Did not go in there even considering looking for a relationship, just wanted to be out and around people. I was soon introduced to her by a mutual friend (the only person I knew in the building, in fact).

Lucked out in that not only was she CF, she ended up driving me to the urologist to get snipped several months before we even got engaged.

I am now 48. We've been married nearly 6.5 years now. Found out after marriage that not only was she interested in me, but she apparently actively warned off others in the place that were also showing interest; I'm told there were at least 5.

If she had kids, I would never have gotten with her. Of the others I knew about, there were only adult children in the picture, some of which were about to have their own kids. That situation, I MAY have been fine with, if only because there would be zero parenting involved.

It's not only my wife that knows I'm CF; her parents also are aware. Thankfully for them, my SIL recently gave them a grandchild so they still have someone to dote over.

This is what women want. They feel they should get to sleep with whatever man they want to suit their sexual needs. Then when it comes to raising and caring for any children that come of their sexual escapades, they should then get to pick and choose someone more suited for financial support and fatherhood. All the while avoiding all criticism and responsibility for their choices.

It's all about using men for either sexual gratification or financial support, whichever they need. We're not humans to them, we're servants.

No I don’t know anyone that has that expectation. Why should anyone have to settle if that is not what they want? I take no issue whatsoever with men not wanting to be with single moms. I think often times nothing good comes out of it. Even if you do get attached to the kid you also have no legal rights if she leaves you. That is really awful if people think it’s a single man’s responsibility to become a stepfather lol

Rest assured, no single mother wants to bring someone with your attitude into their household.

What I’m ASSUMING you’re pissed about, is the fact that at a certain age, many women at an adjacent age have children. They’re going to be picky, they’re going to have standards, and they’re going to want a responsible partner willing to accept a package deal…you know…since they’re a grown adult with a child.

As a childless bachelor, i frankly have not noticed at all. But then i drive truck for a living so i really dont talk to people much.
